Figured this would get more exposure here than in the military section.

I'm assuming the little tag on the side of the ACU's that gives off a signature to friendlies when using infrared. I guess they don't have an FBCB2 box or BFT sitting in those Apaches. DocStew, TRG, and SSB should be able to fill you in. I never wore ACU's.

Things have sure changed since Viet Nam.  I was fortunate to be in on the early work with IR, Laser Designators and the Hellfire while working for Combat Developments Comand at Ft Ord Ca. In the early 70's.  This gear turned out better than we ever imagined.

How far away are the attack helicopters and how can they get such a clear image?  Wouldn't the future flying jihadis hear the helicopter?

Guessing by the time to target I'm guessing about 1 to 2 klicks.  This is all happening on a very dark night & I don't think they have any idea of the capability of those systems.  The clear image comes from IR imaging through high powered stabilized optics.  Our second shot in 1974 with a very high powered stabilized laser designator in a hovering UH-1D was designating an 8'X8' target from 10 miles for a modified Honest John missile.  We we hit the center of the target within 10".

Not really you wouldn't believe how quite they can get. In 1970 the Sikorsky Helicopter company was test flying the S-67 Black Hawk Helicopter and it was quiet up to 500 yards away over a normal conversation.

Wow, what ever happened to the S67 ?

Fatal crash and afterwards

The lone S-67 prototype crashed while conducting a low-level aerobatic demonstration at the Farnborough Airshow in September 1974. During a low-level roll maneuver, the nose dropped below the horizon resulting in a momentary descent which eliminated the altitude safety margin for a safe completion of the maneuver. The aircraft struck the ground in a level attitude and immediately burst into flame. Sikorsky test pilot Stu Craig died on impact, and test pilot Kurt Cannon died nine days later from his injuries. Development work on the S-67 ceased after this accident.

About the 11-12 minute point:

A klick is a (1) kilometer. Depending on the speed of the weapons platform bringing the ordnance to target, or the ordnance itself will tell you time on target.

Also the air frame was built by hand and there was some political things going on with a former first lady holding about 50% stock in Bell helicopter and with the crash of the S-67 it guaranteed that the AH-1 would stay in production. If they had built the S-67 and made upgrades through it's service life I could only imagine what could have followed it.

I thought they had something going with the anally inserted device.  Kind of a self propelled asshole.

Money well spent in my opinion. It's less expensive than the pain and suffering to the families of the Soldiers, Marines and Sailors that that single muzzie could hurt/kill if they didn't take him out.
