This bonfire on Skins's island immediately and spontaneously conflagrated.

It's like a fireball over the whole island.

Obamaite primitive comments are predictable, full of the usual venom and Hate.

Maybe they should both Rochambeau each other for the candidacy.

You know, I fail to see anything "outrageous" about that comment.

Her main point being that primary campaigns can be long, and she used two examples.

Maybe I'm dense or something, but I just don't see where that's an outrageous comment.

Actually, I suspect Sigmund Freud would determine their reaction is a subconscious hope of the Obamaite primitives that Hillary Clinton somehow gets offed.

I didn't read the whole bonfire, which was miles long, and surely by now is even longer, but I suspect one Obamaite primitive or another is sooner or later going to betray that subconscious hope.

Talking about and dreaming of killing the POTUS, certain members of the SCOTUS and the VP = good

Speculating about an assassination of a Democrat = bad?

Remember, the primitives are masters of projection.

If the Obamaite primitives are outraged by that simple statement of fact--that presidential primary campaigns can be, and have been, long--it's because it's in they themselves to wish such a thing, this peripheral insignificant comment about assassination.

I don't see where one can possibly come to another conclusion, especially given the stark fact that the Obamaite primitives Hate Hillary Clinton with a venomosity that seems near-supernatural.

That thread is a good one to save for the day H.Clinton becomes the official nominee, which will happen.  This maybe the thing which finally kills DU.

BTW, as much as I despise H.Clinton, I cannot find fault in what she said.  It is undeniable history.  This is just another opportunity to heave their bile on Clinton.  No emotionally mature person could possibly get so worked up over her throw-away statement.

Man, I dunno.

I know my fellow alum Skins has a high tolerance for Hate at bonfires on Skins's island.

But the Hate of the Obamaite primitives seems to be exceeding even those generous boundaries.

If I were Skins, I'd lock that thread.

Anyway, this was humorous:

I think it's just plain old DU dishonesty. They absolutely live for statements made by conservatives, Christians, or anyone they hate, that can be taken out of context or spun to be given a meaning that more suits their own agenda. We've seen it happen a thousand times in the last seven years where a Republican makes an otherwise inocuous statement and the DUmmies assign to it some absurd meaning completely different from what was intended. Then the faux outrage and the gasping and clutching at their pearls starts until they find the next one. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It's shallow and transparent to the detached observer, but a useful tool for them to whip each other into a frenzy of group mania. My favorite is the moronic Yael DUmmy, who keeps yelping, "It's a dogwhistle! It's a dogwhistle!" :mental:

When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Spot on man! If four years ago someone would have told me that their were people like this in the world I would have laughed.  Now after seeing them it makes me want to cry. What do they have when their whole lives revolve around politics and hatred of all those who see things differently.

And what makes them this way? How are their lives so much worse than everyone else's that they can't lift themselves up? They get a hangnail and it's not only worthy of an entire thread but another excuse to trot out their victimhood. Granted, there are some real hard luck cases over there...UP is one, but the majority of them have good jobs, own more than one home, have plenty of disposable income (for real luxuries like nice cars, jewelry, expensive vacations...not just extra money to rent a couple more movies or go bowling on Saturday). Even the ones on a fixed income, like that angry, depressed ADULT woman on SS whose lovely mother takes care of her despite the vitriol she spews at her are doing better than the middle class in other countries. They're supposed to be the intellectual giants of the age and they can't find a simple path out of their seething rage and anger.

Oh, I know how it goes...it's BECAUSE they're so smart that they're miserable...they see so much wrong, so much pain and no one is doing anything about it. One wonders, however, if they're so compassionate (and smart...the nation's trendsetters and all) why don't they lead by example. I mean, instead of taking that next cruise think of how many medical check-ups that money could buy for the poor, unisured children at greenbriar's school. How many abortions for pregnant 15 year olds who don't want their fundy parents to know? Why aren't they turning their extra real estate into homeless shelters, free clinics, food banks, and safe houses for illegal immigrants? Or using that money to buy blocks of ice to send to the endangered polar bears? Why don't they give at least 10% of their income to worthy causes that help those in need...oh, wait, that won't work, tithing is a Christian thing. It's one thing to slap a "Live Simply So That Others May Simply Live" bumper sticker on that $35,000 fully loaded Prius and quite another to choose a less trendy (maybe even used) car and donate the rest to La Raza, the local food bank, or to help pay for some poor child's expensive medications.

Maybe their rage and depression comes from realizing what hypocrits they truly are...they don't want to give up their slice of the pie (not even a couple of cherries from the filling of said pie) but they DO pity the poor in their own special, condescending way. Perhaps the only way they can look in the mirror is to project their own selfishness onto others. Meanwhile organizations like Christian World Relief, Bright Hope, St. Vincent De Paul, and even Christian Youth Ministries will continue being funded by average, ordinary Christians (some who can't even afford fancy jewelry, new hybrids, and expensive vacations) so that other ordinary Christians...who've definitely sacraficed many of the material comforts of our world...can go into the poorest places on earth to provide food, clothing, shelter, hope. Maybe the only way for them to get through the day is to tell themselves there's nothing they can do, if EVERYONE isn't forced to give then there just won't be enough to help. I mean you can't just help 10 people when 100 are suffering...it's all or nothing. Don't even THINK about the possibility that if you help those 10 you've reduced those in need to 90, that next time you can help 10 more, that it's better to do what you can to help those you can than no one.

Anyway, if they had to reduce their disposable income, why they'd just end up suffering too...donate that cruise money this year and next year they'll probably be standing in a soup kitchen line instead of the Buffet Line of Celebrity Cruises. They couldn't possibly do that to their fellow man...increase their burden and all. Besides, it's just not fair for them to give up something of their's when those evil Republicans probably aren't giving up anything. Oh well, they are who they are and if they weren't offended by everything they'd have no meaning in their lives. I guess I'll just have to let them stew in their hyper-intelligent juices. Besides, I have work to do. I have to finish planting the native plants I've been growing from cuttings in the riparian buffer zone we made between our new pasture and the creek. You know, saving the environment and all. Then again, since I can only preserve MY little corner of the world maybe I shouldn't bother...it's never going to be enough.

Frank, I've been reading some of this idiocy myself, and it appalls me that even when RFK, Jr. calmly dismissed Clinton's remark about RFK, Sr. as nothing more than an historical observation, these primitive a-holes had the audacity to then turn on HIM because, after all, Obama had somehow been placed in a position of peril he hadn't been in before (because the Hillary She-Devil spoke the magic incantation!) and they didn't think Bobby, Jr. respected that enough.

Just when you think they can't get any more ridiculous and assinine, they freshly astound me.

Speaking of conclusions, the following is something I've been pondering since the other day when the remark was made and touched off this firestorm of manufactured outrage. I realize you are the great evaluator of all things primitive, so my apologies to you if you've spoken on the following topic previously.

If I may be excused from starting with obvious generalizations, I think that the DUmmies are primarily godless and anti-religious folk. In the sense that they sincerely believe that freedom of religion means freedom from religion, and that any mainstream observance or symbolism or acknowledgement of a higher Intelligence in the universe is anathema to them. They like to believe that they are superior in every respect, and their rejection of a personal relationship with God as unnecessary coincides with this particular illusion; that is, until tragedy hits them or their deathbed beckons.

But while they are suffering this illusion, they cannot cope without a sense of purpose or meaning underlying their existence, and their magically-thinking political fanaticism serves as a stopgap. An inadequate substitute, to be sure, which is why they are so easily frustrated and ready to construct or adopt supplementary false beliefs like 9/11 conspiracy theories and the Well-Laid Bush Plan For Invoking Martial Law.

At the core of their current dilemma, Frank, is the substitution of GWB for Satan, Rove and Cabinet as his henchmen, McCain and Clinton (and anyone who dares criticize or challenge their candidate) for Satan's minions, and Guess Who With the Big Ears as the Messiah. This, THIS is exactly what the entire phenomenon has been about, a mass hysteria that is actually just over-compensation for the godlessness. Everything leading up to this moment has been written in large, portentious, absolute terms by those very people who purport to despise fundamentalism. The players can all be identified as characters straight out of the Bible. And the coming GE will be their Armageddon.

Well, that's the short version. I'd love to hear your opinion and expansion upon that if I'm anywhere close to the mark.

Their identity seems to be tied to their status as a victim. When the "woe is me" threads start, there are generally three types of replies. One is the "when that happened to me I did this...", the second is the "you think that's bad, here's what happened to me...", and the third but rarer is the "you should do this". Sometimes that last type actually offers good advice but generally there is a chorus of hisses shouting down any useful suggestions. Not only do they claim victimhood, they don't want to see anyone else climb out of the pit and see the truth. There is only one thing that is more alarming to a DUer than speaking the truth to him or her and that is when that same DUer witnesses another accept the truth about something. Alerts and tombstones usually follow close behind.

It appears we operate on the same wave-length, sticks.

Inside all human beings is God.

Those of us who acknowledge this stark fact say okay, fine, and then accept, adapt, and move on.

There are some who expel God from within themselves, leaving a great void, an emptiness.

One of the basic laws of physics is that a vaccuum must be filled.

Those who reject God, substitute something else, but of course it's not nearly as good as God.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that many primitives think of the current Democrat upperdog as God.

I don't think that's a stretch at all.

And recall, please, that to many of these same people, the Impeached One was once God.

I don't think that's a stretch at all.

And recall, please, that to many of these same people, the Impeached One was once God.

Absolutely true. Whereas conservatives tend to put the bulk their trust in God, themselves and their families in that order, Dummies always seem to be putting their faith in a single charismatic man or woman who they substitute for God, a new Messiah or at least a Moses-like figure who is going to lead them out of the wilderness. It happens on a kind of rotational basis, depending on who had the best sound bite in any given week. The greater god right now is the BarackStar!â„¢, but there exists a whole pantheon of lesser gods: Conyers, Edwards, Olbermann, O'Donnell, Kennedy, Chomsky, Sheehan, Moore, et al, who all enjoy sporadic and brief periods of worship as savior until by word or deed (or lack thereof) they offendeth The Hive. Then they are relegated to sweeping out the god basement until they redeem themselves and are once again set upon Mt. Olympus.

This is one reason they are doomed to perpetual disappointment, because all these mortals in whom they invest godlike powers suffer from the fatal human flaw of...being human, and thus will never be able to create a perfect heaven on Earth as the DUmmies believe they can.

There is a part of me that laughs at their insanity and bitterness but there is another part that wishes I never knew about such hate filled people.

I wish I could go back to the days of being blissfully ignorant about people like this.  I didn't know they existed before I started posting on message boards.
