I do not, and will not be able to, understand why the DUmmies have such wadded panties over proving who you are with a photo ID in order to vote. I voted in the primary here in Fla with no problem - gave the lady my driver license and my retired military ID card, she looked at the license, found my name on the roster, and I got my ballot.
An idea that I've seen mentioned a bit here, and other places as well, is to have one's income tax burden determine one's vote on a sliding scale. For example, an income tax burden of $0 to $2,500 gets 1/2 vote; above $2,500 but less than $5,000 gets a whole vote. More than $5,000 1.5 votes.
People who have $0 income tax burden (folks getting EITC for example), don't get a vote at all.
Let the people who are actually paying for the operation of government determine who gets to spend the money the government is using.
Not my idea, but I like it.
