A realization I had lately: it is impossible to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and be a Republican. It’s philosophically absolutely opposed—if they could only think about what they were saying for a minute. That’s when you get caught up in the webs of what people call themselves and how they behave. You just become adaptable and try to lead a good life in ways that make sense, regardless. Because I know at the end of it, if I’m going to meet Jesus or Allah or Buddha, I’m going to be all right.
Neil Peart is one of the greatest drummers of all time, and a huge influence on me. But this I totally disagree with. And here is why....
Case one: Democrats are about helping people and supporting the needy (The Republicans are also), but the Democrats are more into it for helping the lazy than they are about anyone else. Jesus said help those who can't help themselves, not those who refuse to help themselves.
Democrats are more for socialism than they are for capitalism. Jesus did not like the government running everything.
Case two: Luke 18:18 - 22 ~
'A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?â€
“Why do you call me good?†Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 20You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’bâ€
“All these I have kept since I was a boy,†he said.
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.â€
When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth. 24Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.†' Although that passage is true. You will find that Republicans are the most generous when giving money away. They give a lot of what they get away. The Democrats? Not so much. They are more bent on using the tax payers money for their own good and the socialist programs they want to enact. They want the government to control everything. The republicans do not. All you have to do is look at the charity giving charts for the past year to see that.
Another point: The republicans want you to work for what you have. The Democrats just want to hand it to without any standard of doing something with yourself.
Case three: You can be a Democrat and be a Christian, but you CAN NOT be a LIBERAL and Christian at the same time. The moral issues do not match.
With such, you will find that stats show you more Christians are registered republican or conservative than they are Democrat. As I said before I do know a couple of Democrat/Social Conservatives, but I have never met a Republican/Social Liberal. It comes down to 2 + 2 = 3. When you are social liberal you will vote for democrats on every election because they are more prone to be a liberal as well. But, when you are a social conservative, you are prone to vote on either party; basing it on whether the individual is a Social Conservative or not.
Back to the topic: I heard it said a coupe of times that, even from conservative pundits, that except for the moral issues; Jesus was a Democrat. My belief is that he was an independent/social conservative. As far fetched as that may seem. He was both a Republican and a Democrat. Reading the bible tells you that.
