I agree with both ya all. The problem will be convincing the dumbmasses of it. I am afraid we have reached a tipping point as far as the electorate paying taxes. I still say the best thing any rep presidential candidate can do is push the fair tax and push it hard harping on that it will take away the power of congress to give tax breaks to their respective following. Will it win? Dunno, but I would like to see someone try. And then when the media says it will hit the poor, poor, pitiful poor and the middle class too hard, all they have do is say "Want to bring home your ENTIRE paycheck, then do this!" I think the dumbasses of the middle class will get on board really quick. The poor not so much. What it will do is put skin in the game for everyone including the poor. When they go to the store with their foodstamp card and start seeing how much they are paying in taxes, they just might wonder why they are paying so much.
Ain't holding my breath though.
Personally I believe that every citizen should pay the same percentage of taxes period. Don't matter where the income comes from. Welfare, HUD, cap gains, interest income, dividends... don't matter. You got this amount of money from whatever source, then you pay x taxes. That is the only thing that will reign in DC in my opinion.
Just my two cents.
I don't think so. Ryan is very good at explaining his plan and economics in a way everyone understands. He's made the boy king look like a fool more than once. Romney's rapid response team is excellent. Yes, they've missed a few opportunities but they're doing very well for a relatively new team. Lately, his campaign has made some very effective ads countering 0bama's lying ads. And he's done it while going on offense...not an easy task.
The mood of the country is going to be very, very important in this election and America is pissed. Campaign season hasn't really started. It's really too early to be negative. Romney's sitting on a huge amount of campaign funds that he can't even use yet. Bet his Ryan pick will bring in a few more millions.
None of 0bama's bullshit has hurt Romney. It's slowed down his momentum, but nothing else. Normal people don't care about his tax returns, his money, his time at Bain (except that it proves he can run a successful business) or his religion. This last kerfuffle with Romney being accused of causing some guy's wife to die of cancer hurt 0bama. Even the LSM couldn't ignore it. And I bet it succeeds in making the public more suspicious of his ads.
What America wants is a solid plan. They don't have to like every part of it but they've definitely had enough of promises & platitudes. This time, I don't think vicious, negative attack ads will work. The stakes are too high for every person in the country. This is the only kind of campaign 0bama and his team know how to run. But his record will trump his scorched earth campaigning. Slanted polls won't work either. This Carter/Reagan pt. 2...on steroids! I'm not saying Romney is Reagan but the experience he brings to solve our problems is exactly what we need. Ryan's deep understanding of the financial crisis facing the US is an asset.
