Ok. I am going to put on my independent hat here and probably get bitch slapped for it as well.

My thoughts is not to repeal the 2nd amendment, I am a stout believer of the 2nd. But name a time that you need to use an ak47 to go hunting?
When you have it, and no money for anything else.

I would prefer to have one for home defense. You kow, for vamints of the 2 legged variety. Don't want them to get too close.

I've taken deer with my Chinese milsurp SKS (Which I sporterized a good bit), it shoots the same round as the AK.  Just because something CAN take a 30-rounder doesn't mean you have to USE 30 rounds at a time, it's a violation of most state game laws to have more than a 5 or 10 rounder in it anyway if you're hunting.

And what BSS said is correct.  The 7.62X39 is just a mid-power .30 cal round, very roughly on a par with a .30-30 in terms of ballistics.

I might add that "Target shooting" takes in a lot more territory than microscopically-thorough benchrest shooters, which is what comes to the mind of the average journalist (Such as it is) when they start going off on this, it encompasses activities like Knob Creek, shoothouses, cowboy shooters with their lame handloads, and ripping off magazine a bump-fire in your backyard (If you live outside town limits like me).

So you all don't care what you use for hunting, just so it shoots? I can see some of your points, and they are some good ones. I just find it odd that someone would use a ak47 to hunt deer. I guess that is just me.

Edited to add missing words.. This stupid keyboard.

Where does it say "...But only for hunting" in the Second Amendment?

There you go...you just had to bring that up.

I woldn't use a pellet gun to shoot a deer.

You have to use a gun powerful enough for the game you're hunting. Also, an AK 47 or an SKS, is (in America) a semiautomaic rifle. No different than the semi autos some makers have for hunting. It's just the perception of the rifle as being a menace, and cheap to get.

Sheesh...city boys...

Packers. Superbowl I, Superbowl II, Suverbowl XXXI, Superbowl XLV, and numerous other NFL Championship titles before there even was a Superbowl. So much history. So much excitement, and a feeling on that field like none of the other 31 team fields out there.

Packers >>>>>> Squealers (I've always hated them)

Period.

Steelers have six wins. More than any other in history ...

Also the Steelers have never moved out of the city they started in. As for the Packers. I do like them. They are a dynasty like the Steelers. But the steelers are still better ..

My SKS has a 5-round after-market mag that fits more-or-less flush with the stock, which is a black synthetic with a sporter profile; I bought and modified a shotgun scope mount so I could have firm mount-to-receiver contact, instead of the sloppy action-cover mounting that is so common on them.  Unfortunately mine seems to have seen a Hell of a lot of service with the PLA or ChiCom militia more likely, before the Chinese surped it off to the US in the 80s, when I bought it, and the barrel is pretty worn; it's quite sensitive to the brand of ammo it gets fed when it comes to accuracy, seems to like Federal best.  I'm thinking of rebarrelling it, parts are a whole lot easier to get now than when I bought it.

The 2nd amendment is the constitutional insurance clause in case we ever have to take back our own govt.
90% of guns owned are not for hunting. they exist only to kill people.

The reason Obama and the rats want to take our guns away is simple: They intend to do things that would cause you to to grab a gun and defend yourself. The only reason we are free today is private ownership of guns.

True. The government can handle a few gun nuts with guns but not 50 million solid citizens types with guns.

And that is why it is always about making guns harder to get, and not stiffer penalties for people that commit crimes with guns.

Many years ago S.C. had a law that said that if you committed a crime with a gun, it was an automatic 7 years, no parole. Still got that law but judges ignore it.

Yup, it is a sport and I agree with it, which is why I said in another post in thread about using them just for target practice and gun shows.

My dad's got the same SKS mag on his.  Anything over 5 rounds in a semiauto for big game in NY is illegal.

Two words would suffice to answer the OP's question.

God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.

God alone suffices.

If you are hunting rabbits, you should be careful to keep an eye out for lions.
If you are hunting lions, you can ignore the rabbits.
I hunt rabbits with AK's, because I never know when I might be attacked by a sasquatch.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

We can only assume she is proud of her country for the last 3 years. I don't remember here actually saying that. We don't have to assume about her pride for her country prior to that.
