West would be a good choice. He could outsmart, out think and out debate Biden 9 ways to Sunday.

Spare me seasoned politicians like Portman and Kasich. Need some young blood in there with new ideas and some spunk. Portman is boring as hell and a Bush crony.

Rubio is my first choice because he could help Romney with the Latino vote. He also might help with younger voters and would balance the ticket (young with an older Romney).

My beagle could outsmart, out think, and probably out debate Biden.   :rotf:

The only one that makes a little sense is Martinez.  She is a fine governor and has a promising political future, but too young and inexperienced.

My guess is Romney will go with Rubio.  It makes perfect sense.  He could deliver Florida, which is a pivotal swing state, is extremely popular within the conservative base, and will deliver a percentage of Hispanic voters, which is also critical in this upcoming election.

You call Martinez "young and inexperienced" she is 52 and will have 2 years of experience but think Rubio should be the pick? Hes 41 and also only has 2 years of experience. Everyone keeps talking about VP candidate helping deliver a state but historically that hasnt been the case and as for nationally Rubio wont help with Latinos. Hes Cuban, that will do next to nothing to deliver the Hispanic votes we need in CO and NM.

I don't think some "young Blood" is going to do the ticket much good. Folks are already concerned about Romneys conservative credentials won't help any if the ticket doesn't have much legislative depth.  Sure the majority leader and the Speaker of the house run the legislative process but a VP that knows the game can prod the process along.

Allen West is excellent.  The only thing left of Biden would be hair plugs and a loafer.

I would absolutely love to see Allen West get the VP slot.  I think that the country would learn about him in short order, and Rep. West would verbally trounce anyone--media or otherwise--that would be stupid enough to try to challenge him, or call him out.

Palin did energize the electorate. McCain was such a pathetic candidate who would have lost by a bigger margin if she was not on the ticket. The VP can deliver votes. Rubio speaks Spanish. No. Obama goes on a Florida speaking network and speak a few words of Spanish. Obummer is not Spanish. Correct. Your logic does not make sense to me. In my opinion, Rubio would help with Latino voters all over the US. It would be a sense of pride for Latinos to have a Cuban American as VP.

Romney is a stuffy boring candidate who needs someone to light a spark to energize Repubs and get them out in force to support him. If he picks another boring candidate like Portman or someone that has had a long history in politics, I think that will not work to his advantage. I want a fighter who will take it to the Democraps and the media not some career politician. These type of politicians are responsible for the damn mess we are in now. I am hopefull that every Democrat and Republician that has over 8 years of experience is voted out of office. Maybe their rating with the public can get above 12%

The problem is if Romney picks either a woman or a minority, the media will claim he's pandering.  And if it is a white male, they'll bitch that is just the ol' white boys club at it again.

A no win situation, so let's find the most qualified person in a swing state.  Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, Kasich or Portman, etc.

My two cents.

I saw that and he is very impressive. Would love to see him get the VP nomination. To all the naysayers about picking a black or woman. Gotta have some balls to run for Nat. office; it goes with the territory. I don't want some old fart that is a career politician. Give me somebody that is intelligent, has fire in their belly, can energize the base and has new ideas. These old dogs have been killing us with heaping debt and don't have a clue how to stop (not slow down) the runaway spending spree. For example, the Ryan plan slows down our deficit but it still goes up trillions in 10 years. That is supposed to thrill me when Obummer plan is to increase it by double that amount.  These jackasses have been there way too long, and we will be just like Greece if this kind of stupidity is not stopped. Oh, and by the way, Ryan is supposed to be a fiscal hawk. Many of these Repubs need to find another line of work.

The best pick among the people that have a legitimate chance is either Portman or Jindal. They compliment Romney is the best. If his last name wasnt an issue I think Jeb would be the best pick. You dont pick a VP to get votes and they dont garner that many votes, even from their home state. When was the last time the republicans ran a VP from a swing state? We dont need a token VP, and Romeny wont chose one.

People wanted fresh faces in 2008 and 2010 and it bit them in the face. The dems and independents with Obama and the repubs with the tea party.

The best pick among the people that have a legitimate chance is either Portman or Jindal.

Portman is boring as all get out plus his ties to Bush as budget director make him a huge liability. Romney need someone to bolster his stuffy persona and Rubio or West could do that. Many independents vote on personalty rather than policy. That was one of the reason's McCain lost because he does not have a sparkling personalty. Just the opposite of Obama.

I live in Louisiana so I am quite familiar with Gov. Jindal; plus, I retired from the state several years ago as an auditor. FYI, he is NOT a fiscal conservative. When he was sworn in his first term, he made a deal with the legislature, that in return for his ethics legislation, he would double their salaries. LA already has the second highest in the South right behind FL. In LA, a bill that is passed becomes law if it is not vetoed in so many days. Voters got wind of this and raised so much hell, he decided to veto it. Jindal has added thousands of high paying jobs bloating the hell out of the budget. State employee numbers have decreased over the last couple of years while labor costs have went up $650 million. LA has many appointed officials appointed by the Governor making $200k to $500k. The legislative auditor found that 22% of supervisors had one (1) employee to supervise. The division I worked in had a Director and two Asst. Directors . BTW, wages of state employees have been frozen but not those for the Governor's office and appointed officials.

The new budget is a farce because Jindal will take a hatchet to education and Health and Human Services. Additionally, the legislative budget director states that Jindal is using some fuzzy math to balance the budget. Another thing that has never happened is that the state will use several hundred million of the rainy day fund to balance the budget. The State Treasurer, John Kennedy, also has harsh words for the governor because between the legislature and the Governor, they have been on an outrageous spending spree for the last several years.

Jindal has done a few good things but thank God he can not run for a third term in LA.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I think Rubio wouldn't be a very good choice. If anything, he should get some more experience and then maybe run in 2020. I think then he will be a good contender for the Presidency.

Romney should pick a good VP who has experience, and is liked by the masses: Of those Allen West, Scott Walker, and Bobby Jindal (How much experience does Jindal have?) come to mind.

Thanks for the info, Lacarnut. Appreciate it.

Jindal is a hell of a lot better than ex Democrat Governors Blanco and Edwards but that is not saying a hell of a lot. He has made our state look more respectable but we were so far close to the bottom, we could not go any lower. Politics in LA may not be as bad as some of the Yankee and liberal states but it is pretty bad. He has reduced taxes in some areas but his spending spree is no different than your usual politician.

His appearance on the rebuttal of Obummer's state of the Union speech years ago was just awful. He is not ready for National politics and would get eaten alive by the media.
