In one of Gnad's screeds re climate change/global warming awhile back, she was told of the difference between "climactic" (of or relating to a climax) and "climatic" (of or relating to climate). The information fell on deaf, albeit large, ears.
Bull shit, my Dad a hard hat rescue diver and Chief of the boat on ASR's in the 40-50 era saw the problems with our reefs back then. Later in the 1990's he told me that some day we could grow orange trees in Maine.
Was he nuts or did he he understand the climate change of the at that time 50 years from seeing under the sea the changes there ???
When things become stagnant then everything dies, it is only change that allows man to adapt to new environment. Species either die out or adapt, much depends on the speed of the change. Very fast change and few but humans can adapt , very slow, then all things survive.
We see the tundra now becoming warmer and actual trees growing today, we see the unusual bears the Grizzle bear crossing over to breed with Polar bears.
We in Northern states now grow food crops that were 50 years ago only found in the south. Adapt or die.
10 years ago alligators were coming north into the inter coastal waters of VA.
Fact of life, no human caused the ice age or the blow up of Krakatoa that caused a year of little sun about the world.
Mother EARTH will do what it needs to, humans can adapt but not change one darn thing our Planet decides to do. Humans are not at the Mercy of climate, never have been, little we can do about it but to prepare to survive what ever and expect more changes in the future.
Look to the oceans and seas to to find out what the next cycle of climate will be.
