The only thing Al Gore is on to is a bacon cheeseburger. :hammer:

Rt 66 in Oklahoma. This stretch was made with funds that would cover only 1/2 the total distance for two lanes, so they made it one lane of 9' wide concrete (with curbs). It's deteriorating as the years pass.

Still working on the 500 photos we took.....

Marking this thread for later.   :-)  Where did you start and stop, CG?  I'm guessing OK to CA?

Started near Joliet, IL, covered it for about 90% of its length, went into California to say that we were on 66 there, made a U-turn (it was about 110o there), drifted up into Utah, went to Bryce Canyon, kept traveling generally north to I-70, then through the Eisenhower tunnel, then moteled it at the closest room we could find east of Denver (in Sterling - everything was booked up due to the evacuations from the wildfires [it was over 100o there at 10 PM when we checked in]), then to another motel east of Joplin, then home.

It was really difficult to follow it in many places; no signs, etc. What's really needed is a navigator and a photographer in addition to the person driving. Most of the time my wife was smothered in maps.

The Oatman Highway in Arizona was the most treacherous part; they don't allow anything over 40' long on it (and it used to be part of the "Mother Road"). Then you come over a hill in a corner, and WHAM! there's Oatman (no warning), and the feral donkeys are all over the road!

I need to work on the pics we took and put some of 'em out here.

4380 miles total.

Nice.  I know from personal experience the road is poorly marked in some places around here.

You came within about one mile of where I live when you went through the Springfield, MO section.  There are several changes they made on the path the road took through here.

Day four. Hotter'n the gates of hell.

We weren't able to find the statue of the guy, "Standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona." (Courtesy of the Eagles.)

The town of Jackrabbit is one building, with the town limits about 2 blocks apart!

Slightly off Rt 66, but my better 2/3 wanted to go there again. It's NOT what it used to be.

You drove right through my stomping grounds!  That building used to be a morgue and a casket factory (Plano, MO).  Did you take any shots of the building across the street from here?  I never have been able to figure out what it was.
