Anybody else notice how DU traffic slows on Friday and Saturday nights?

Like some of these people have things to do, places to go, lives to live?

And here we sit in our subterranean caves chomping' on our Cheetos.

I can't imagine being anywhere else, nor would I want to be. Sigh.

1. Boy, is that ever true, my dear gateley!

I don't want to be anywhere else, either!

I have a perfectly lovely thread in the Lounge, and NO replies! Heck, hardly any views for that matter...

Nice to see you tonight, sweetie!

3. Nice to see you, Peggy! I'll go check out your lovely thread in the Lounge.

Lord knows I'm not busy doing anything else!

5. Staying up late is kinda my specialty

I think the max I've ever stayed up is 3 days straight. Yeah DU does get pretty lonely around this time though but, hey there's other things I can do while browsing DU as well like maybe modding a PC game, playing cards, or sometimes a game of Scrabble on my computer is nice too.

6. I have a full life. It's just online.

I'm sitting in a slum living room tastelessly appointed in a style I call "early cheap hotel." It would send an editor at House Beautiful into an early grave from apoplexy but it's comfortable enough.

9. Gosh, that makes me wonder, am I a loser?

For being here at midnight on a Friday night?

And if so, when, if ever does that end? I mean I'm over 35 now. As I teenager I used to sneak out and get high on these nights, in my twenties I partied hard, in my late twenties early thirties it was more like cocktail parties, but now everybody has kids, is exausted, and we've all long ago drifted apart. But is there still something I am supposed to be doing on Friday nights other than drinking beer and screwing around online? Will there always be something I'm supposed to be doing? I mean, when I am 80, in the nursing home with my wife asleep in the other bed, posting here, will I be a loser in comparison to the other 80 year old guy is out by the player piano trying to hook up with some old lady?

Isn't friday and saturday night when the primatives are out trying to score their next bag?  :???:
Maybe they just do that friday, and are too buzzed out saturday to even recognize a keyboard.  :???: :???:

Yeah, well you'd think Calpig would probably wise up that her thread doesn't have any replies (and probably very few views) because nobody wants to be ambushed with one of her pictures.

I think most people here, and probably even at the DUmp would prefer to state intently at the back-end of a baboon than gaze up on a Calpig photograph of herself.

Perhaps the truth dawns on a few poeple, such as Nappy Rags here:

Lessee....grow up on the guvmint's teat all your life, expect things to be given to you, then you whine, whine, whine all the way to the nursing home with your wife asleep in the other bed. Drinking beer and screwing online? You just admitted what DU is all about. Finally, if I'm 80, I'm still going strong; I don't expect to EVER sleep without my wife being in immediate "Hey, sweetie, wanna?" range. Only losers who don't give a damn about commitments and relationships settle down.

Sorry, had to rant.

Wow!  Can't imagine being anywhere else.  Really??

Hey, I enjoy being online and goofing on the primitives as much as the next person.  But if given the option between hanging out here online with all of you or going out and going to a baseball game or to the movies or to dinner or for a walk around town, sorry fellow CCers but I'm out enjoying life.  No offense, you're fun people, but life is too short to sit all day in front of a computer screen.  I'm sure most of you feel the same way.

The primitives, OTOH, would rather "chomp on their Cheetos" and yap at DU.  I would be willing to bet the other primitives who were away from DU weren't out having real lives, they we still chomping on Cheetos while on other web sites.
