As many of you know, I'm not big on prognostication, particularly in elections.  I had a sense that 2008 was going to go badly for us, but kept somewhat quiet about it.  I DID see and state here that there was a tsunami coming in 2010, and I only missed by degree.....I had no idea that it would be so large, particularly at state and local levels......Democrats lost over 800 seats nationally, and became "endangered species" in a good number of states.

I'm seeing a similar situation developing among the electorate again.......it's subtle, but definitely there, and although the media and the major pollsters are attempting valiantly to spin it, there is no question that "something" is coming in November.

Therefore,  I thought I'd start a "legacy thread" that we can continually update as this presidential season rolls along, and chronicle for all to see the elements of defeat of an inexperienced, ineffective, egotistical, narcissistic politician, that but for a fluke of fate, would still be handing out pamphlets on a south Chicago street corner today......

I invite all members to post their thoughts as events unfold, therefore we have all the elements archived when the election happens for even the DUmmies to see as to why their candidate failed, and failed miserably.

I'll start with a couple of big mistakes that will cost Obama substantial numbers of votes in the fall;

1.  Spiking the football on the Osama assassination........cost him a lot of veteran, military and military family votes that he might have gotten, had he just kept his ego in check, his mouth shut, and gave the military credit for the accomplishment.

2.  Flip-flopping on gay marriage.....as I discussed in another thread, this move has no upside for him, and will only cost him votes, the numbers may be small, but in a close race, every vote counts........not only that but he thumbed his nose at the fine citizens of North Carolina (who voted for him before).

As things roll along, feel free to add your thoughts.......

As an afterthought.....I don't think the November election will even be close.......I'm gonna call an 8 - 10 point spread.  Let's see if I'm right........

Hearkening back to the OBL mission, Barry did a magnificent job in pissing off the SEALs and the rest of the SpecOps community by broadcasting that SEAL Team 6 carried out the mission, collected intel (hard drives, docs, etc.) and thereby effectively nullified the immediacy of the intel gathered during that op.

While this information likely would have come out, it didn't have to come out of the CinC's mouth. Major league dumbassed stunt.

Cash for Clunkers - a monumentally stupid idea propagated by Barry that was supposed to have "stimulated" new car sales by offering inflated values to owners of vehicles on the road that were ostensibly garbage on wheels.

A total of 690,000 new cars were sold under this program, with 125,000 of those that wouldn't have been sold anyway.

C for C gave car owners up to $4,500 in rebates if they traded in their gas guzzler for a new car meeting better fuel economy criteria. Average rebate was $4,000.

Edmunds.com reported that most of those sales, while propping up the economy by a whopping 1.7% in the last half of 2009, would have occurred anyway, which translates to a real cost of $24,000 per vehicle borne by the taxpayer when you factor in $3 billion for the entire program.

Cash for Clunkers --  :lame:

That one's pretty key, and they're sticking with it big-time with their attacks on Congress, a strategem that is bound to cost them badly in Senate seats.

If I were offer an observation, and if I understand TVDOC's stated mission, we might do well to give rather detailed reviews of each of these bullet points above, along with a link or two as support.

That way the evidence is there for review, along with the basic message.

I think his downfall very well could be all of this piddly crap he keeps trying to throw at Romney, and not trying to actually lead the country.

The elections on Tuesday have really made me hopeful. Maybe. Just maybe, they were the first little pebbles of the Romney landslide.

Carville sounding the alarm like he did gives me some hope, too. He's not stupid.

I'm still scared, but a bit less so.

All of Wasp's points are good ones, however my original thought for this thread is to chronicle the actions that will cost him large blocks of voters.......working from  the assumption that a sizable portion of the electorate is either stupid, uninvolved, or don't give a crap.

Obamacare is certainly on the list, but these should be the blunders that do one of three things:

1.  Piss off a substantial number of voters that might have voted for him

2.  Disallusion a large group of voters that most certainly would have voted for him, and simply fill them with enough apathy that they just stay home

3.  Motivate voters that certainly would NOT vote for him to crawl over broken glass to get to the polls, creating a very high opposition turnout.

The overall condition of the economy is certainly a factor, however each voter will interpret that on the basis of its impact on them at the moment.......most could care less about our bond rating, and unless someone actually goes to jail, and it can be linked directly to the WH, I don't see all of these scandals having a huge impact.  Remember, after impeachment, Clinton left office with a 60% approval rating.

Well, on that basis then, here's another point:

Guantanamo Bay's Detention Camp for Terrorists. Lord Zero made a campaign promise to close this facility:

Politifact - Sorry, I'd post the actual speech, but I can't get to YouTube

That promise was shattered.

As a result, the moonbats have become disaffected with Barry to the point that they're just not all Hopey and Changey anymore.

The gulf oil spill was a wonderful opportunity for owebuma to walk on water, heal the planet, starting with the gulf, and cause the sea level to recede by stopping the oil flow, and quickly and competently cleaning it all up. But he bungled it and hamburgered it all up worse than the Hamburglar. Maybe it was part of the Louisiana Purchase owebuma is also so famous for bribing Mary Landrieu with.

He gives a general impression of trying to be slick while being so incompetent about it he can't be slick.

Case in point: the unions. They have been losing membership for years. When people look at unions they see people incessantly threatening to go on strike while the rest of us are looking for jobs. Then, when concessions are made to the unions we're rewarded by seeing either our prices or taxes go up depending on the venue of the union. Worse still, the quality they put out continues to deteriorate as they get increasingly top-heavy and lazy but then the sloth is used as yet another round of cost-increasing extortion. Witness: teachers unions.

Obama supports the unions. Everybody knows this. He's going to take a metric shit-ton of their money for the campaign. Yet Obama dances around that fact because he knows why they're so reviled. He won't come out and say what he would to do pay back the unions. He won't trumpet the outright theft perpetrated against the primary lien holders at GM.

But everybody knows and everybody knows he's hiding it...just like his gay marriage schtick.

People detest dishonesty, particularly about shit staring them in the face. And they absolutely will not respect someone who is so ham-handed in their dishonesty they can't even lie effectively. Moreover, it gives them a sense that the liar does not respect them. it feeds into their sense that the liar is arrogant and takes them for granted. The average voter, the one that decides in the last 2 weeks of the election and carries the largest share of the votes, may not intellectualize this but they get a general impression. It scratches at the back of their minds unceasingly.

Loathing, suspicion and contempt are not a winning combination and if Obama thinks he can distract his way into a second term he will only feed that impression if Romney continues to put the focus back on the economy and non-bullshit issues.

Most political experts figure that Florida will be a close-run state in the presidential election this year, and with 29 electoral votes, it could make or break a candidacy.  Both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama will spend a lot of time in the state, attempting to gain the edge on a state that Obama won in 2008 by just three percentage points.  If the Obama administration keeps making decisions like this, though, Romney won’t have to work that hard at all:

Quote
The daughter of Cuban President Raul Castro has been granted a U.S. visa to attend an academic conference in San Francisco and another event, one of her associates confirmed Thursday. The decision has already drawn fire from Cuban-American politicians and on anti-Castro blogs, which argue that she is an apologist for the Communist government her family has led for decades.

One of my personal tone deaf favorites:

Quote

The roots of Obama's demise

By Marc A. Thiessen
Monday, October 25, 2010

The decline of the Obama presidency can be traced to a meeting at the White House just three days after the inauguration, when the new president gathered congressional leaders of both parties to discuss his proposed economic stimulus. House Republican Whip Eric Cantor gave President Obama a list of modest proposals for the bill. Obama said he would consider the GOP ideas, but told the assembled Republicans that "elections have consequences" and "I won." Backed by the largest congressional majorities in decades, the president was not terribly interested in giving ground to his vanquished adversaries.

He may rue that decision next Tuesday. Whether the midterm elections are a tidal wave that sweeps Democrats out of power on Capitol Hill or simply result in major losses for the president's party,
