I mean, since the Republicans keep saying Obama is responsible for high gas prices, why don't we codify it and make him actually responsible for gas prices?
So, what you're saying is that Obama is not responsible for the price of gas? This means that Bush was also not responsible for the price of gas. If Obama has nothing to do with it, then neither did Bush. If Bush was responsible, then so is Obama. You can't have it both ways, no matter how hard you try.
However, Obama has affected the price of gas (just a few):
1. Drilling moratorium that had been deemed illegal, yet was ignored anyway.
2. The killing of the Keystone pipeline deal
3. Going after coal manufacturers, who he said he wanted to drive out of business during the campaign.
Bush has as well:
1. Bush lifts offshore drilling moratorium in 2007. The gas prices went from 4, 5, 6 dollars a gallon to < $2.00 in a matter of weeks, and remained that was until Obama took office.
So yeah, Obama is responsible for these high prices because he has stifled the free market. And price controls is a disaster waiting to happen. It has never worked, and it never will work.
