Rev Sharpton and the arc of movements

The other day, in passing, he made a critical point. The movement that started under King continues. This is a lifelong movement, with victories and defeats.

So I had to think to one comment from a young occupier..."been three months, nothing has changed." This is one of the divides between the young or new activists and the old salts. Social justice movements are a life long commitment. But given how neatly, insert tv program here, is solved in half an hour, can't blame that young buck. The myth is we can solve all troubles this fast. Life is not a screen play.

As the spring comes, and six months, I expect this realization to finally start to register.

Also the authorities will increase the pressure.

Thanks Rev, I knew that, but you gave very succinct and moving words to it, after your mother passed.

If by karmic coincidence you should read this, thank you.

1. 'lifelong commitment'

. . . generational.

You got it, nadin.

2. I get to report on them

When I feel up to it. As in healthy enough...but the discussions on how fast change comes has been at times maddening.

The above's the whole campfire; nadin and a mole.

Will she be taken to task by the DUmmies for using what the DUmmies used to call a racist term?

I have feeling that Al "Resist we Much" Sharpton is going to be in civil court again. Tawana Brawley redux.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

The movement that started under King continues.

The movement started under some ambiguous "King" may be continuing, but the movement started under Dr. Martin Luther King is being perverted. As is his dream. Let's look at some things...

Now is the time to lift our nation from the quicksands of racial injustice to the solid rock of brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children.

Is it justice when a white man kills a black man and it is called a hate crime while if the races are reversed it is just a crime?

In the process of gaining our rightful place we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline.

We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence.

Hasn't it degenerated in physical violence when two black teens set a white kid on fire saying "you deserve it whitey"? Is that a high plane of dignity?

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

If we are going to say all men are created equal don't we have to do away with things like affirmative action as affirmative action is saying that you can't get there by yourself? If we are to stay true to Dr. King's movement and dream shouldn't things like employment and college entrance be determined by merit instead of skin color?

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

Is the dream continuing when you do as Dr. King asks and judge someone by the content of their character (see the DUmp's lord and saviour 0) and are immediately labeled racist?
And is the dream continuing when any black who through his or her own determination decides to become a Republican is labeled an Uncle Tom (and worse) by demonrats?

Dr. King started a great movement and had a noble dream. A dream well worth pursuing. It is a dream and movement that people who claim to respect him, like DUmp members and other libs, are turning into a farce and nightmare.
“Don’t vote for the person who tells you you deserve something. Just don’t do it if it’s something other than life, liberty, or the pursuit of possible happiness. If everyone is telling you you deserve something, vote for the one who is promising you the least. Be suspicious of the man or woman who tell you deserve everything. Because you don’t.” ---Mike Rowe

It's a true shame that the good Dr. King is not available to see how his message has been so distorted and hijacked.
I doubt he would be pleased.
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

Well if you look at the crime, welfare rolls, prison population, etc., etc. I'd say that the black race has been judged on the content of their character and found to be sadly lacking. Sure makes it hard on the ones that have good character.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

One of King's close relatives is a frequent guest of Sean Hannity, Dr. Alveda King. She carries the King torch quite conscientiously.
There were only two options for gender. At last count there are at least 12, according to libs. By that standard, I'm a male lesbian.

But it is all whitey's fault for victimizing them in the past.  (Not the libs fault who bribe them to stay on the  DNC plantation)

They don't just bribe them...they try to humiliate them as well when they leave the DNC Plantation.
When Harry Truman was President of the United States, he had a sign on his desk in the White House that said: "The buck stops here." If Barack Obama had a sign on his desk, it would say: "The buck stops with Bush." - Thomas Sowell

Not just humiliate them, but destroy them publicly.

Yes, the politics of personal destruction the Clintons hated when they claimed it was being used against them.
