Sure you can. Newt was very good at answering gotcha question from the liberal media. After SC, he lost it and was overwhelmed by negative attack ads from his oppenets who had ten times as much money as him.
Only one opponent has been spamming the airwaves with negativity against other GOP contenders....Romney.
And if Newt's ability to throw media gotcha's back at the media equated to anything other than applause lines he'd be a front runner.
Notice how Obama spins the high gas prices. He blames the oil companies and the media carries his water. Jobs, gas prices, the economy, etc are the issues that Repubs need to focus on. Stay away from commenting on porn and contraception. If I am not mistaken, Santorum is the only candidate that has jumped into that topic. If the Repubs allow the media and Obama to focus on everything but his record and fall into that trap, they will lose. That should not be too hard for anyone to understand.
The media could ask hundreds of other relevant questions...but because they have an agenda...the only thing you'll ever see on TV is the ones that make the GOP look the worst they can.
Don't you get that? There is nothing the GOP can do...except use the higher viewership of places like Fox News to get their message out (and they won't do that for some unknown reason)...to stop what the MSM is doing in covering up the mess Obama is making and doing everything they can to throw the blame on the GOP.
Oh sure he could refuse to answer questions about religion and contraception...but then he falls into the trap again. By not answering you allow the media to make the answer up for you. I teach soldiers from privates to Generals that the one thing you absolutely can NOT say is "no comment" or refuse to answer a question. The same thing applies to politicians.
IMO, Santorum is not a disciplined politician who allows himself to be draggged into issues that will play to the base but to independents voters, it is a losing proposition.
You're wrong.
