She probably hasn't told all her little girlfriends, nor the not so friends.

Ever since Accutane was taken off of the market, dermatologists have tried to find something that works without the bad side effects.

My skin was great when I was on the pill. Went to hell in a hand basket after the first ovary was removed and I finally went on Accutane at 35 when nothing else would work. My daughter was on it at 14.

I took my daughter to the GYN before she started college, to go on the pill. For 2 reasons. One she had the wicked periods that were getting progressively worse. And I wanted to make sure if she "took stupid",  got drunk or someone slipped her a roofie, she at least wouldn't get pregnant. I also thought it would be better to be proactive and be on the pill than to have to make a decision what to do if she did get pregnant. She had just turned 18.

If its a skin issue I would advise checking out the natural benefits of coconut oil and tea tree. One of my favorite things about our Drs they don't automatically pull out the RX pad.
If its just a loose girl issue, I advise not opening your legs to everyone that says I love you.

I think many of us are missing the big picture.

If someone told me the following with a straight face,

...I would be APPALLED that she was not raising her daughter with any morals in the first place. There is NO WAY that my daughter, or the daughter of any man I know who is actively raising her, would even have to consider THINKING that. And if she is actually taking BC because of an actual, non-sexually related medical condition, she would be intelligent enough to know how to communicate that particular medication to others (if it's their business in the first place).

Bottom line: Her daughter is either a slut like Sandra Fluke, or she's ignorant just like her parents. The parent is mostly at fault here.

My daughter is now on BC to control diagnosed PMDD. We waited until after she turned 18, to see if it would "straighten out" on its own. I'm really concerned that these girls are on BC so very young, while their bodies are still trying to mature. There are consequences to long term hormone pills, sometimes including infertility (as happened to one of my friends whose parents put her on BC pills at 14).

I just asked my daughter if anything like this has happened at her school. She informed me she was one of the last of the girls she knows to go on the pill, but no one really cares. They know who the sluts are and it's not because they take the pill.

Agree! We have made it clear our preference is that our children wait until they find "the one." Seems the sex-ed courses the schools teach forget that part.

My daughter's best friend since 8th grade had a baby over Christmas break. She very obviously pregnant all of fall semester and is now back to finish her senior year. This particular young lady is a 4.0 student, who had been accepted to Duke University, but now thinks she can't attend college because of the baby. Her parents have kicked her out and she and the baby are living with her boyfriend's family. Now the poor girl thinks I hate her because she got pregnant. (This is not at all the case. I'm just disappointed) As you said, it only takes once.

Your reasoning was the same as mine, for my daughter, on the body maturity thing and also on the long-term consequences of being on the pill. Having gone through the "wait and see if it gets better" ordeal myself, I was pretty sure, that wasn't going to happen with her.

I didn't go off of it by choice, but because other issues were starting to happen, which forced me to go off of it. Also, my GYN was concerned that if I stayed on it much longer, I might not be able to get pregnant at all.

I didn't want that to happen to my daughter. It's also much easier to miss a class or two in HS than it is in college.


I really don't think whether a girl is on the pill or not, is going to make that much difference as to whether or not she has sex in middle school or high school.

What's going to make the difference in how long she waits....is how much her parents have tried to guide her into becoming a responsible adult learning to make the right choices, and how much they have taught her to respect herself and her body.

Well somewhere along the line, IF this is even true, your daughter had to tell someone who somehow managed to let the only 3 or 4 girls in the entire school who would care about her taking birth control pills and are also mean. Also, how is it possible for a 16 year old to be this naive? Seriously, she's 16! I'd expect this kind of thing from a 12 year old but by 16 she should have the maturity to know taking birth control pills for her complexion doesn't make her a "bad person" even if some bullies said she is.

Bad acne and heavy irregular periods.  Both good rationalizations.  They have been used for ever.  My ex's doctor used one when he put her on the pill at 16 after a regular lower unit check up reveled she was either heavily engaged in horseback riding or sexually active (to keep her mother from having a bird when she found out).  

And now for my favorite story from the sixties.  A very Catholic family with several teen age girls mom shows up heavy with child. The dirty little secret, she was on the pill and her oldest daughter had been taking her pills on the sly. Of course this was in a small coastal town where this type thing was the worst kept secret and who to chastize?  The daughter or the mom??  Nobody got away unscathed in that one.  

Ladies, in the old days didn't you have to take the pills in the correct order?

Thank you for the suggestion!!  I have very mild acne and redness.  My dermatologist gave me two different creams to use after washing my face.  The creams work, but I need something better to wash my face with other then the store bought stuff that does not work!!  Proactiv doesn't even work.

I can't use proactive or anything like it, I look like a strawberry for weeks after one application if I do. Take a look into natural healing, you'd be shocked at what vitamin D alone will do for you healthwise. Let me know if ya want a few links of my favs.

I finally opted to have my uterus out when I was 40. Shocked the heck out of the nurse when I got up the  morning after surgery, showered and washed my hair, after they took the morphine self injector out of my arm because I wasn't using it. The morphine injector was switched out for 800 motrin "on request".

They didn't understand how I was doing so well. I was doing so well, because I was finally pain free after a 7 MONTH period!!  It was the best thing I ever did !!

I tell you, the DUmmies just like drama.  Any little thing gets them all pissy.

Speaking of acne, my son was on accutane in high school.  That was a miracle drug for him.  I had to fill out questionaires every month. The drug company wanted to make sure he wasn't female and was on or using no less than 3 methods of birth control. The doctor confirmed he was male.   :-)

I'm showing my age here but I assumed girls today were more sophisticated than we were back in the day. You'd think being on birth control pills would make you cool and Mom super cool. What do I know.

I remember way back when I was 16.  I had a 15 year old girl friend, and we were very sexually active.  She just went down to the liberals favourite place...Planned Parenthood.

Yeah, but this Ms Fluke is a 30 year old slut....so evidently even the planned parenthood liberals think she old enough to accept responsibility for herself. 

BTW Is a bitter, man hating, liberal moonbat of a woman really in any danger of becoming pregnant?
