We went traditional and had goose for Christmas dinner.
You know, the American diet used to be healthier, prior to the rise and popularization of fast food.
Up through the mid-1960s, the American diet as pertains to meat, was circa one-third beef, one-third pork, and one-third poultry. For those 50 and above, think about what your mothers used to prepare, and how often. This statistic looks pretty realistic to me, a more-varied diet.
Well, it's all different now, and beef rules.
Even though I come from a major beef-producing state, well, I had my fill of beef and pork by the time I was 10 years old, enough to last the rest of my life. I'll dine on one or the other once in a while, but probably 90-95% of the meat in this diet is.....poultry.
