We are up to $9.57/pack for the 2nd tier brand (USA Gold and the like).  Marls would be $11 or so.  Can you believe that?  I feel terrible for obviously poorer people at the convenience store, they just can't quit.  They get so angry at the clerks!

It is rather disturbing.

When I was at the convenience store in town earlier this morning picking up some coffee and breakfast, my eyes wandered over to the cigarette display.  Marlboros are $6.03 a package; it seemed a quick jump from the four-something range into the six-something range.

And no, Nebraska has not raised its cigarette taxes lately; it must be 0bamainflation.

It's somewhere around 7 bucks a pack here in WI. They're running a 75c off discount for my brand right now though, at least.

Wow, it really surprises me that cigarettes are cheaper in Illinois, outside of Chicago of course, than other states.

And I have to buy for both my husband and I. If we're able to switch to the E-Cigs? we'd save over $400 a month.

Holy shit, that is a friggen car payment.

I just ordered the Volcano express starter kit.

Thats the one I have, I hope that you like it.  I was just on their site trying to find full strength tobacco flavor cartridges but could only find light and regular.  I hope they didn't change their formula or stop selling the full strength ones, mabe they are just out of stock.

* Found 'em, looks like they only have them in red though.

Well my Husband hasn't had a cigarette in about 7 hours, just carries this thing around and takes a puff every so often, I've been back and forth.

One thing I did, Bally, was to mark the day and time at the top of the pack upon opening.  Then, when the pack was done, I wrote the day and time of finishing, with number of hours it lasted in a circle.  Then, I wrote this info on a pad of paper, like a little journal.  I gave myself little  :-)'s and  :('s and  :argh:'s.

:lmao:  That's just me, I work well with goals and metrics.

I now smoke an "off-brand" called "Pyramid".  They're made by L&M, and taste much like a Marlboro.
I get them for $27 a carton here in NC.

That's a good idea Karin.

Just curious, do you guys cough when you inhale these ecigs? seems like it takes a few puffs to get used to it.

I got the V2, I got 3 dispoables to try before I decide whether or not to order the starter kit, it's much different than the Blu, the Blu has a cheap tobacco taste to it whereas the V2 has a much smoother taste, also the Blu keeps making us cough, haven't coughed yet with the V2.

I'm not much of a smoker, I have maybe 5-7 cigarettes a day. I hate the way it stinks up my condo, and I always worry that I am bothering the girl that lives above me, even if i smoke on my patio.  I recently bought the The VOLCANO Kit and have been pretty impressed.  Tastes just like a regular Marlboro but there is no smell, no ashes and no butt.  It recharges on my computer USB port in minutes and the refills are cheap compared to the price of regular cigarettes.

How fat are they compared to a regular cigarette?  The last e-cig I tried was fatter than a regular cigarette and it just felt funny between my fingers.  Not only that, but the nicotine inserts tasted nothing like regular tobacco.  I smoke Marlboro Lights.  The site claims they are the exact same size, but it doesn't look like it in the picture.

Well we ordered the Starter Kit from V2, the only thing we had to do was jack up the flavor, the light is too light and we think full flavor will be too strong, so we went along with medium. My husband is kind of liking it so far and he said he's noticed his smokers cough going, I'm still 50/50 right now, half cigarettes half vaping.

Not for nothing, but I always found Lights to be nastier than full flavor. I dunno if it was just that pack of Marb lights made or if it's all Light cigarettes, but I much prefer full flavor. Loghts make me cough to beat the band when I'm smoking them.

Just FYI, my local smoke shop sells liquid nicotine in various flavors. One bottle is about $10 and so far I've refilled several five packs of cartridges. I've only used half the bottle.  It takes a little work for my particular cartridges. I have to pry off the top (I use a small awl) After that, I remove the rubbery retainer and expose the filter-like material. I drop in five or six drops of the liquid nicotine, replace the rubber retainer & replace the plastic top with the hole in it. I've probably saved anther $50 so far by doing this.

Yeah, I'm a cheap bastard.......  :bird:  :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

I just got my kit, but haven't been home for an eight hour stretch to charge the thing.  I'm off this weekend (I think), and that is top on my list of things to get done.

We're waiting for the starter kit to be delivered, I ordered Cowboy Medium Flavor, but I also ordered a 5 pack of the cherry cartridges and they offered a 10 cartridge variety pack to try all the flavors. I spent a little over $200 for the kit and the cartridges, I refuse to buy a carton of cigarettes.

V2 offers the liquid and blank cartridges to fill, no way do I want to get into that though LOL.

I fill mine all the time.  I like a moist, flavorful vapor.  That's where the major dollar savings come in.  Thor, those little rubber-stopped things drove me nuts, trying to get them off.  If you use a paperclip or something, *ping* off they go across the room.  I use the open-ended cartridge, that you simply drip the liquid into.  I may try (Badcat's?) tank-style one, where you don't have the "fluff."

I do not want to use anything that says on the description "NOTE:  needs a syringe to fill."  I don't want that kind of paraphernalia lying around the house.   :panic:

We got our starter kit today, the battery comes partially charged so it only took maybe 10-15 minutes to charge, we got all the cartridges we should need for the month, and I sent for cherry cartridges and the sampler pack just to give the other flavors a try and to change it up a bit. My Husband hasn't had 1 cigarette today and tomorrow I'm going to try it 1st thing in the AM instead of the usual cigarette.

Thanks so much Karin for starting this thread, about a million times we talked about ECigarettes but we didn't know where to start, and this thread gave us the kick we needed to get started.

Have you been using your starter kit?

I just ordered one today.
