What is this vacation thing people talk about?
If yours works like ours, its a thing in which you take off to go to a family reunion and plan to go on to Yellowstone from there...but 1/3 of the way to the reunion, your van breaks down. You limp it to an exit, and call your brother-the-mechanic to find out the symptoms mean the transmission is gone (you were really hoping he'd say "fluid might fix it."

). You spend the night at a KOA, rent a van the next morning, and get to your family reunion one day late.
After camping out at the reunion for 3 nights, you decide to make do with 2 days and one night in the Black Hills instead of going all the way to Yellowstone. On the way back, you pick up your brother-the-mechanic and go van shopping. He helps you pick out a nice van with only 180,000 miles for $4000. (Which, by the way, we're still driving 8 years later. He's is really good at picking used vehicles.)
You return the rental van on the way home, and you don't go on another vacation for several years because the last one cost you $5500 more than you'd planned.

The only drawback to vacations like this, aside from the hassle, expense, and frayed nerves, is that the kids still whine about not getting to Yellowstone!!!
