I hope that this post will help me to blow off some steam. I found out today that a personal check that I mailed via the USPS ten days ago never arrived. I sent the letter via priority mail and got a delivery confirmation receipt. Well, by entering the receipt's tracking number at the USPS website I was able to determine that the letter arrived at the Postal Service sorting center in the town where the person I sent the check to lives. But that was the last time the letter was seen. It was never delivered.

This incompetence upsets me. And since the check was for a fairly large amount of money I decided to call my bank to stop payment on the check in case the check falls into the wrong hands and someone tries to cash it. Then that's when my second dose of bad news arrived. My bank informed me that I would be charged a $30 fee to stop payment on the check. I asked them to waive the fee and they refused. This really upsets me. I did nothing wrong. The Postal service did something wrong and now I am the one suffering due to no fault of my own. And I doubt very seriously if the USPS will reimburse me that $30 or the $5 it cost to mail the letter.

People wonder why the Postal Service is in trouble. Well, debacles like this might be part of the reason.

And now since I had this bad experience with the USPS I think I will wire the money this time and that will cost me even more money.

And I just can't get over my greedy bank charging me that ridiculous fee even though I have done absolutely nothing wrong.

I have steam coming put of my ears.
But I thought the USPS was perfect.
Didn't the Voluminous Vegas Vagrant just tell us so?

You hit the nail right on the head, Chris. They only and I mean ONLY reason they get so much chit online is because nobody, except maybe Jeanette who probably is out of the house 10-11 hours a day between work and her commute on public transport, will leave that(likely) stinking apartment and go to the local store and purchase those items directly. It's shameful what our taxpayer support is going towards; encouraging slovenliness and lazy behavior on people who really need to get out more in order to get them off of the bill of other folks. This irritates the sh*t out of me.

Can I ask? why does it have to be Buckwheat Pancake Mix? do people use that if they have allergies? I just use the Aldi's brand, a little over a dollar for a box.

I actually like Buckwheat pancakes. And yes, it can be used in place of wheat, but I like it just because it tastes good :-)

I have a feeling though, this is just a feel good food that the leviathan stumbled upon while handing with the vegan nutbags on the McDougal forum. I found Buckwheat about 15 years ago when we had that variety pancake at IHOP on a whim. I love them and make them on occasion at home.

I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this; Jeanette is working again.

If the gigantic primitive had put less than one-half the effort into looking for a job for himself, that he put into looking for a job for her, he'd be on the employed rolls a long time now.

Yeah, I noticed that too. That woman has ZERO self esteem to put herself in that kind of position with that useless POS. I can only imagine the abuse she has had to put up with when he gets in one of his snit fits. He seems like the type to go off totally irrational and blabber mouth for days with steam coming out of his ears. I know Jeanette wasn't exactly Sophia Loren, but geez louise, there have to be some men out there who actually WORK for a living and would appreciate a nice, hard-working woman like Jeanette by their side. Far as I'm concerned people should be able to make their pancakes out of buckwheat, or truffle dust, or powdered eagle eggs, as long as they're paying their own way.

It's just irritating when deadbeats like the LVL waste food money, then complain that they aren't allowed to burrow more deeply into the pockets of productive people.

We're hoping that with my wife's income that may change, but for now she has a very basic cell phone with only a handful of minutes per month which was provided while we were on the SNAP program before she started working again. The other two of us just have a basic landline through our cable service which doesn't even have free long distance.

The guy barely got out of high school, and damn it, he's qualified to run the world and all in it.

And him, sitting in the apartment all day long playing computer games?--I really think he has agoraphobia, the fear of going out in public, probably evolved from his being a freak for so long.

But if he made it a point to actually walk to the market to buy things in person, he'd get rid of that phobia.

Seriously, I think he's agoraphobic, afraid to be seen in public.

In Massachusetts not only do they give out free cell phones, you can get a free used car, insurance,repairs and AAA at the expense of those of use foolish enough to work.  No I am not kidding.

That's exactly what I mean, frank. I can not see the attraction. While Jeanette is of very average countenance, she is a hard working, decent, and pleasant individual. I refrained from psycho analyzing her, although I think I know why a decent woman as she would be with that buffoon. It's sad and too bad she has nobody advocating for what she could be and get so she could move on to a life of decency with a partner willing to meet her with the same effort. The buffoon goes without saying. He found a woman of low esteem, who probably is somewhat easily led to bow to his every whim. I have no doubt at all should the buffoon wake up a slender, fetching man tomorrow he'd look for what he would see as 'better'. He's using that poor woman; of that I have no doubt. I see woman like that all the time and instead of desperation for a mate, it seems to a me a group of these women could have a much better life forming something akin to a convent and creating a household of their own where they could not only take care of themselves but perhaps use their caring natures to benefit people who actually deserve it. The buffoon married his own personal FREE caretaker essentially. Sad.

I tend to agree. I think he and the roommate both are. God bless, Jeanette for putting up with a couple of men who really need to be in a shrink's office being forced to address their phobia.

Well, you know they don't make shoes for his size 18EEEEEEE flipperfeet, and you can't walk far wearing toilet seat boxes.

But this is his only chance. In January-February-March, the pavement in Las Vegas is cool enough to avoid blisters.
