 Celebrate with me!

A very recent poem is going to be published in the periodical Decanto, from England!

I just got the email today! It's so validating to have someone who doesn't know me want to publish my work.

Midnight Balloons

purple shadows
damp
and
cold

in the dark
on the sidewalk

black sky no moon

lights off
no hustle
for this
locked building

balloons tethered
limp from days
aloft
sagging strings

not even trying
to
float

away

That's some deep sh*t.   :rotf:

Aww, crap, she's at it again.
I would think the sub-title to that would be "Ode to Viagra".
Then-Chief Justice John Marshall observed, “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”

John Adams warned in a letter, “Remember democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet, that did not commit suicide.”

I was thinking the same thing, but I realized we might not be "nuanced" enough to understand.   :lmao:

Wow.. a poem about birthday balloons left in someone's office overnight, probably over the weekend, while they deflated. Maybe I should write a poem about bland, crappy poetry with zero depth...

...but alas, perhaps her poem is symbolic for the aging of a woman not so gracefully...an autobiography of sorts...

How did I know who had written the original DUmp thread before even looking at this?

More of her 'look at me and how wonderful I am'.

New age gibberish.

They make money by selling their magazine to the "authors" that they publish.

Submission Guidelines

If you would like to submit some poems, please read the following carefully.

You may submit up to 6 poems of which 1-3 may be published.

There are no fee charges for submission.

There will be no payment in royalties to the author.

Unfortunately, as we are totally self funded and receive no support from grants, sponsors etc, we can not offer a free copy to contributors, the only exception to this being the ‘Centre Stage Poet’, who will be sent a free copy upon publication.

Well, at least she doesn't have to pay to be published, so it's closer to a writing gig than anything Pitt has done.

I'd strongly suggest that miskie send poems to be published in the same issue as the CalPig.

I think the editors would appreciate the counterpoint, and they need to fill space.

I'm still greatly disappointed that the Watchtower magazine never responded to my submission of eleven of her poems (nothing illegal; I clearly identified their authoress); didn't even send a rejection slip.

That would've been her big break, appearing in the largest-circulating magazine in the world, the Watchtower.

I probably goofed when I insisted that her face grace the cover of every edition of Watchtower featuring one of her poems.  Probably demanded too much, turning them off.

WTF is she talking about?  That makes no sense.

It's nuanced, you damn Freeper!

Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

I don't know about anybody else but I got some throw up in the back of my mouth after that POS.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
