Lawmakers Blast Administration For Calling Fort Hood Massacre 'Workplace Violence'

Sen. Susan Collins on Wednesday blasted the Defense Department for classifying the Fort Hood massacre as workplace violence and suggested political correctness is being placed above the security of the nation's Armed Forces at home.

During a joint session of the Senate and House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, the Maine Republican referenced a letter from the Defense Department depicting the Fort Hood shootings as workplace violence. She criticized the Obama administration for failing to identify the threat as radical Islam.

This administration is so ________. This was terrorism pure and simple. I am beginning to think the only thing that would open there eyes to the facts is if one of these "WORK PLACE VIOLENCE" episodes (caused by an islamist extremest) happened to a close family member.

No. Such an incident would be attributed to the perp being subjected to the "white man's Christian society," not to terrorism.

If they classify it as a workplace 'accident', they don't have to pay out benefits.  They can claim it wasn't a terrorist attack and Barry can continue riding on GW Bush's coat tails.

They can still be required to pay out benefits for a workplace accident.  It can actually bolster the claims for benefits. 

I'm curious why they chose "Workplace Violence" rather than "Terrorism", but can understand it not being labeled an "Act of War" or "Radical Islam".  I'd be inclined to believe that they may have been limited by the procedural policies in place on how they needed to classify it rather than it being solely a political move.

Anyone check out their life insurance policy lately.

Most have a small exclusion for death caused by WAR or Civil Uprising.

Family's of those killed in a Terrorist attack may have to fight for years to receive the life insurance pay out unless the attack is [renamed] as work place violence.

Riot in the streets, family member in the wrong place at the wrong time is killed. The cause must be renamed from Civil Uprising and Disobedience, to Gang Warfare or accidental death.

Oh those insurance company's are sneaky, late 1980's they tried to pull the card of age and health to pay out family's death benefits for those in airplane accidents or car crashers.    Offering only 10 cents on the dollar to the family's of the insured if they could prove that victims with Aids had only 5 years to live.  [ we never would have insured the person had we known they had Aids, they lied on their medical exam]

Huge flap and laws changed, young adults who without their knowledge had a potential health problem, a weak heart  that died , family's were in a court fight that because of a precondition no one was aware of the life insurance was now invalid.

So many of these policy's were $20-35,000 bucks, chump change to the insurance company's and spending $25,000 to defend their claim, not worth if to family's to fight for 6 years.

Rename everything, a child being strangled by an older kid on a school bus defends their very life and kicks them in the balls.    Victim is now accused of a sexual assult.

When do we become Senior Citizens, some places place the age at 50,  two drunk men one 50 the other 48 get into a knock down drag out fight.   The 50 year old started the fight but the 48 year old is arrested for a crime on a Senior Citizen.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never harm me.  Tell that to the kids that are bullied in school, tell that to the politicians that are labeled as untrustworthy.    New names for old acts, a swindler that wrecks the lives of many people is now a Good Business man.

Interesting how lives are changed by a  changing label for their actions.
