RIP: Harvey Milk and George Moscone ... 11/27/78. You are not forgotten.
   
My little brother was stationed at NAS Alameda at the time, and he and his partner lived in the Castro District. They were part of that amazing candle-bearing throng that later paid tribute to Milk and Moscone. Not coincidentally, they are still together, busily threatening the sanctity of marriage, 33 years later. (No doubt their very existence is responsible for the multiple break-ups and re-marriages of such defenders of the sacrament as Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich.)

Oh, and Dan White? Rot in Hell you miserable twinkie-eating piece of shit.

btw, I don't think the title given to this thread is really accurate; It could possibly be argued that Moscone "Got what he deserved," on the grounds that his renegeing on his decision to give White his job back was likely what caused White to have murder on his mind, but Milk was only killed because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Never seen the movie. I've seen it advertised on like, LOGO, (surprise, surprise) and HBO sometimes when browsing through my remote tv guide, but never thought "Yeah. I wanna watch THIS!"

Agree.  If I recall, the killer was mad at the Mayor and killed him, and afterwards Milk just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.  But that doesn't make a good story for those who need to attach an agenda to what really happened, I guess.

The Moscone–Milk assassinations has nothing to do with gays or politics. It was motivated by personal issues in regards to not being appointed and felt he was being stabbed in the back. Also, Dan White was pro-growth, while George Moscone and Harvey Milk were against growth. It also occurred 9 days after the Jonestown Massacre in Guyana. Another interesting fact is Milk used the "Twinkie Defense".
