The really sad thing is DUmmies just don't understand business at all. In fact they hate it. They would all starve if not for  food stamps. Or food credit cards.

My question is, how was the amount settled on.  Is that how much the admins expect to get from ads for those that don't donate, or are they just going to be hosed ridiculously.

What you mentioned would be my guess.  Skinner is an idiot politically, but he's able to sit down and figure out the numbers he needs to make it pay off.

He's got people who pay more than $42/yr, so he's got to figure that by saying $42, that's all he'll get from them from now on.  There's some that almost pay $42, and they'll kick in the extra to get the full membership.  He's probably figured he'll lose several over this, but that's the cost of doing business, can't make everyone happy.  A lot of the one's complaining will still stay on the island and put up with the ads though they claim they won't.  They're hooked, they aren't going anywhere.

But he's got to know on average how much he makes off the ads from the non-donors, and like you said, that's probably where he's getting the $42 average he wants per active poster.

We need BadCat to run his Dumpster Diver program for us, if anyone knows where he is.  Seems like there were around 5,000 somewhat active posters there, times $42, is $210K.  That's pretty good.

Speaking of BadCat, has anyone heard from him? His profile says he hasn't been active since early July. I was going to ask him to run the Diver, too. Hope he's okay.

The last DUmpster Diver results I saw, there were about half that number of active posters.

Not a chance.

DUmmies don't want/have to pay for anything, including the DUmp.

This thread has ruined my day...the chidish poem, "Twinkle, twinkle little star...." will be running thru my head all day.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin

She wants a subsidy?   :lmao:   Everybody send in your tax return to $kinner, and he'll make the evaluation of how much more to charge to certain people; then turn around and credit others' accounts.  Is that how you picture it, DUmmie?  I think she probably does.  Some people will have to pay $100, some $75, so that others will be charged $5.

Or maybe everybody has to write to $kinner their own personal sob story, just how poor they are.  The most pathetic essays get the $5 deal, with other people who have normal lives having to pay out the nose.

Either way, it all sounds like an administrative nightmare and a pile of work.  Forget about that new baby, there's redistribution to be done!

I think the way some want it to work is some pay $10,000, some pay $100, some pay $5 and some get paid by Skinner to be members.

Grennbriar is begging a star in this thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x2307341#2308926

The entire thread is vomit inducing. It's set up so that the few can lord it over those they choose to bestow their favours on...no surprises as to who is the first poster.

Here's an example of the vomit-inducing to which Aristotlian referred:

HEY DUMMIES!  SHE GOES ON FREAKING CRUISES AND SHE AND HER HUSBAND EACH MAKE 50 GRAND OR MORE PER YEAR.  That would equal $100,000 DUmmies.  You don't see anything quite wrong with your crowd?

Let me contrast this with CC.  When one of us goes through a rough patch, and chooses to post about it, it's not to get a Paypal infusion.  It's to look for money-saving ideas for the household.

Some yutz will buy her a star and the next day she'll be posting about the Hermes scarf and Vuitton bag she found on special.

Me either.

I have a mole over there, but she gave up posting because it wasn't set up like a normal forum.
