My health insurance rates are going up...again

In the 'open enrollment' packet from work the rates are shown.

The Blue Cross plan we have is going up 9%...again this next year.

No public option means no price control as far as I can tell.

Gee I seem to recall a bunch of racists who made the claim that 0bamacare wouldn't bring prices down, should have listened to them.

3. No surprise there. Insurance companies are doing quite well

Meanwhile, the majority of the nation is not.

Yeah because they should be going bankrupt, not making money.  :mental:

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Do you ever wish the DUmmies would actually base their posts on FACTS??   :banghead:

Health insurance profit margins typically run about 6 percent, give or take a point or two. That's anemic compared with other forms of insurance and a broad array of industries

...

The next line of leftist argument is that the government would somehow achieve lower savings by trimming administrative costs in comparison to levels seen in the private sector. The experience with Medicare refutes that argument. The Heritage Foundation's Robert Book showed back in late June (HT Patterico) that Medicare’s administrative costs per beneficiary is actually higher, despite myriad obvious advantages (much larger patient pool, not having to pay income and other taxes, etc.) than that of private insurers.

...

Another claim of statist health care fans is that the government won't heartlessly reject claims like insurance companies do. Oops: As noted in early October (at NewsBusters; at BizzyBlog), the American Medical Association found that that Medicare's claim denial rate is higher than that of any other private insurer, and almost 70% higher overall than the private insurers' average denial rate.

Good and accurate information Mrs. S.

Anyone hankering for government run health care should have to receive theirs from the Indian Health Services for a while.  That would cure them.  It is so over-regulated and mismanaged from the top down that the direct care providers (bless them) practically have to do gymnastics to treat people effectively.  It is NOT underfunded.  It's just that too many of the funds available are spent on the hoards of Fed workers keeping the whole mess in compliance with the regs.

If I get time, I'll try to find the cost per beneficiary of IHS compared to Medicare/Medicaid compared to privately insured compared to self insured.  Guess who's highest?  I'll find sources.

I don't know much about IHS, but know someone on it and have seen the crap she has to put up with.  She recently made a 90 mile trip to the nearest clinic for an appointment...an appointment she'd already waited nearly 2 months for.  When she got there, she was told that her appointment had been cancelled and she was rescheduled another 6 weeks later.  They didn't call or make any other attempt to let her know her appointment had been cancelled despite the fact that she'd called them twice the week before to make sure she was still scheduled, and had left her number both times.

The 6 weeks is up sometime this month,  I'll find out if she finally got in or not.  Of course, our government knows quite well that the best way to save healthcare money is by letting people die...and, unlike insurance companies, hospitals and doctors, the government cannot be sued.
