They gave me "versa" in an iv because I was shaking so bad. Then they did the procedure, 3 shots on my right side of spine. He hit something on the 2nd shot and it almost caused me to jump up off the table. I really can't tell if there is no pain in my midback because now my tailbone area is throbbing. So I don't know if it always hurt and now that my midback isn't hurting it's hurting now....shit I don't know. I am supposed to go back in 2 weeks for another go at it but I might go back to the dr instead and tell him so far no good. I have 3 obvious puncture wounds/bruises where they did it. How big is that damn needle?
Oh Gina you are so lucky, at your age my Docs used the same needle over and over again until they became so damn dull it took a hard punch to just get it to pierce the skin. Hats off to the inventor of disposable needles.
You have so many improved medical treatments today that we over 50+ did not have at your age. As we all have different pain tolerances, the medical field adjusts to that fact and try to keep you as comfortable as they can.
I myself have refused the spinal block used in child birth, too many story's from woman that had it and experienced all kinds of problems after birth. This was decades ago and today I would except the procedure but not so back then.
Cysts on the tail bone, both my father and my Hubby had that operation, way back years ago, Hubby has a scar that runs up his back a good 12 inches. Today the scar is about 1 inch or less for patients.
Cheer up to know how far we have come in medicine in the last couple years, you will be fine, any discomfort will be dealt with by your doctor, Fear is what gets you upside down. Have no fear, you are blessed to be living in a time that no one needs to live with pain, you will bless the hearts of Science and medicine givers when all is over.
Keep your sense of humor, be outrageous and ask your doctor in front of the nurses about how this will effect your sex life, how long before you are able to swing on a trapeze in the bed room.
