Poll question: Who else is closing a bank account November 5th?

I have taken my money out of my BOA account already and I just emailed HR the form to switch my direct deposit to my new account.

I hope to be one of many walking in to close their accounts on November 5th.

As far as I'm concerned BOA practically declared war against the US taxpayer with the 75 trillion in debt they transferred.

Taking our FDIC insured money out of BOA is the only way we can protect ourselves.

1. Other - with now Wells Fargo (as of a few days, once Wachovia)....unsure.

3. I went with WF after Wachovia sold out. No problems and a very good online customer service. Many conveniences offered. So far, as dubious as I have been, no complaints. I did send the message that if they started to charge me for using my debit card I would be gone. So far so good.

How do you transfer an overdrawn checking account?

And I guess it makes perfect democrat sense to leave a big bank, with free ATMs all over the place, and use a small credit union.
Now you pay two or three bucks for every ATM withdrawal, but you save the lousy four bucks a month.

They (Wells Fargo) will be charging you $5 a month for using your debit card.  You can thank your lousy democrat(ic) policies for these charges.

Wouldn't the fifth of the month be one or two days after their welfare checks cleared?

Good to know about Nov. 5th, I was planning to close my BOA acct before those fees started as well. My reason is not in protest, but because I don't need them anymore. USAA finally opened a branch here in Fayetteville, so I no longer need BOA to be able to deposit checks. And USAA refunds any ATM fees I pay, and has stated they will not be doing the $5 POS fee.

I had to go into the bank last week, and while I was there the teller told me that my account was going to be charged a fee beginning in November, and then they were more than happy to help me find an account where I would be able to meet the requirements to avoid the fees.  I have to keep a $500 minimum balance in my checking account to avoid the fee, but if it does drop below that it is only $3.00 fee per month so it won't break me.

Bank of America put out a press release this morning stating that due to DUers moving their accounts, deposits are down $2.38 and that they expect a drop of about $1.2 million in late charge fees for the next quarter.

Sounds like November 5th may go down in urban lore as "Rob a stupid hippie" day.

Banks are pretty safe.  Nearly all the ones who actually have any money aren't allowed to touch the trust corpus, and the rest of them have to keep the accounts open for direct deposit of their benefit payments.

The significance of November 5th prompted me to do some research. Apparently the day chosen by the primitives to withdraw funds, November 5th, is the same day that the sack of dog squeeze Guy Fawkes and his cronies tried to blow up the house of lords.  Figures.

I work as a consultant for BofA. The big concern is the drop in over draft fees. New fees will be imposed to cover these losses.
