CG, I've come to learn just very recently that my paternal great-great grandfather emigrated from Ireland to Canada when he was a young boy of somewhere between 7-12 years old. I have no idea specifically where in Ireland he came from, only that various census records list him as being "Irish".
I have an account on ancestry.com, which has yielded a ton of information, but I cannot determine when he died. Census records from 1911 show that he was alive, but when his wife died in 1916, her marital status is listed as "widow" and I have not been able to uncover a death record of him. Nor have I been able to uncover precisely when he emigrated and through which port -- most likely Montreal, but it's anybody's guess right now.
Even if I learn nothing more about my ancestry, I never knew that I came from Irish stock until about 6 weeks ago. So your pics are very interesting to me. Mrs. E are even talking about doing a bike tour of Ireland in a couple-three years or so.
