Only had one MRI....it was on my head & neck. They packed foam rubber around my head to keep me from moving it, strapped me down, and laid a heavy protective mat over me from shoulders to knees.

Yes, I did tell them I was claustrophobic.

They got me half way in before me screaming at them to get me out finally made them bring me back out.

Shot me up with valium and sent me back in.

I didn't give a flip I was so stoned.  :stoner:

I am terrified of back surgery.  I don't know why.  I have had 3 c/s's and those are walks in the park but back surgery seems sooooo serious.

I can identify! Only two c-sections, and now two back surgeries. So much depends on what your diagnosis is as to whether this is something that can be handled non-invasively via meds, 10s unit, or PT or if surgery is necessary. For me, I began having neuropathy (sp?) in my right leg and it became a question of whether or not I wanted to continue walking. Unfortunately, the first surgery was not successful, as the disc re-ruptured.

I wish you the best of luck! If you are not totally comfortable with the surgeon they send you to, don't be at all shy of asking for a second opinion. Better to feel safe

When they did my skull MRI they had to check my eyes for metal  (I had been a machinist).

First of all, it's "y'all". Secondly, as Eupher stated, we aren't THAT close. However, he and the others have met me.

I don't know.  They gave me a cd that has a start.exe program and when I open that up I can zoom all around in it.  I just can't figure out how to email that to someone. :panic:

Gina, I told you, you need to make an "image" of that cd. Then you can send it all over. Image Burn is free and will do what needs to be done. The other thing you could do is open it to view all files, select all, and then compress and email. That MIGHT work.

The image with the program to read it is likely gigantic, and would take forever to download.  Needs to be converted to a simple .jpg file, and then compressed.

Gina, from the "Start" menu, select explore (rightclick on start).....with the disk in the drive, then click on the CD drive in the tree and see how much data is on the disk.

Pick up the phone and demand the results. Don't wait; this is Friday, and no one will even get back to you until Monday at the earliest.

I have called once yesterday and once today.  No return phone calls so I called and talked with the receptionist and she said that if they find nothing wrong with my mri I will get a letter.  I told her "Look lady, I am in pain now.  I better not get a damn letter in the mail" :hammer:

I know this doctor can't help me.  I just want them to hurry up and refer me to an orthopedic dr or something.

IF???? THEY??? Not acceptable, Gina. It's YOUR record and YOU can demand that "they" respond to you.

If you knew the doctor can't help you, why did you go to him/her?

RELATED: People are cowed by being in the hospital inpatient or for tests. They have to remember that it's the most expensive Holiday Inn they'll ever be in, and that if they are unhappy with their treatment or the staff, they can demand another doctor and bitch loud and long about the staff before demanding to speak to the supervisor.

Of course, there's always walking out the door AMA. I tried that once back in the 1980s and was told I couldn't do it. I said, "Watch this! As I leave, all you'll see is my ass and 2 elbows as I get into the elevator!" I got treatment THAT day!
