Well, I have to admit that I've never heard of this Conservative Cave until a few days ago.......

Anyhow, I got wind of it from my husband, your new member OG, and was lurking a bit today. Well, the first thing I stumbled on was this particular thread, and the outpouring of sympathy, compassion and general humanitarianism shown here compelled me to register just to make this comment:

A little bit of faith in humanity has been restored for me today, and I have you to thank for that.

May God Bless you all.

Appreciate the words.

1. We're great people with respect, dignity, and honor. DU would realize that if they weren't so batshit crazy.

2. So far, you seem decent to me. The only problem I have is with your name. The last bit in particular. I'm not really PC, but just the same as we wouldn't allow someone to put the N word in their name, I'm not sure "Gringo" should be acceptable either.

LOL! I grew up in Texas. I'm what everybody used to call "Anglo" there. Hispanics called me "gringo." As far as I am concerned, it's simply descriptive. Now I'm in Ohio, hence, Ohio gringo. It doesn't bother ME. Since I'm white and call myself that, I figure it shouldn't bother anybody else. Maybe I'm wrong.

Ironic that CC would be the first place anyone took exception to it. Nobody on DU even thought twice about it when I used that handle. I was banned for criticizing Democrats, not for my name.

I was banned as well. I made it to three posts. I said that the UN should be evicted from US soil.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

I join with the sentiments wishing AG well.  As MrsSmith alluded to, maybe AG will realize that True Peace is attainable only through Our Loving God.

Good Luck AlienGirl.  We've all been touched in some way by the bitch called cancer, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.  I hope you find comfort and peace.

GOBUCKS, although I don't agree with you, I appreciate your honesty.

Many (including myself) like to judge DU'ers.  Even so, I don't think it's hypocritical to change track and wish a DU'er well in light of such devastating news.  I tend to hold the DU "judging" as more of a teasing activity, a back and forth taunting, so to speak.  I liken it to the Sox-Yankees rivalry, and personally don't take it that seriously.  I'm not a hater.

Anyway, best wishes for Tucker.  It does warm my heart to see this outpouring on CC for this poor AlienGirl.

Here we go again!
Another piety contest.
White light up!

Not a piety contest, as far as I'm concerned. Some things--most things, really--transcend petty politics. This is a really big mountain for anyone to climb alone.

My stepgrandfather was from Mexico. He used to call me his Little Gringita, even when I was a teenager. There were always fresh flour tortillas to eat in their house. I loved Mexican cheese and when he would go back to visit his family (he & grandma became citizens) he always remembered to bring me some. And Mexican pastries. The ones in the stores here pale in comparison.

332. I hate to say this, but you probably don't want to spend that much of your time posting to the 'Net
We'll miss you  , but it's probably best to spend it around actual flesh 'n' blood people.

Ain't it sad. DUmmies spend their lives alienating their families. Then they're alone.
Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch.

Oooh! Mexican pastries! I grew up in San Antonio. My parents used to take me down to El Mercado and they had these little sugar cookies with all sorts of delectable toppings. Not to mention bunuelos. Good stuff!

Add my compassion to this thread for AlienGirl.

Cancer is mean and hateful.  I don't like to see anyone suffer no matter what they may think or say.  It's right to send her our prayers that her passing be pain free.

I feel so sorry for her.

Firstly, I didn't take much exception to it. Just a tad. :p Also, if nobody else has a problem with it, it's all good.

Secondly, it's natural that nobody would be taking exception to anything racist at DU. (Not that your name is racist) It just has to be directed at the right people.

Easy there, buddy.
The main topic is about Aliengirl.
Many of us do have honest concern for her/him, for what she/he is going though.
There shouldn't be anything political in that regards.
It doesn't matter what Aliengirls political beliefs are.
He/she is another person that deserves compassion if the affliction is honest.
No more, no less. Please don't make light of it.
No, I did not BS you.

Things are changing fast as I die by inches. Today my voice is hoarse

Every day when I wake up, I can feel that the cancer has grown a little bit. A few days ago, I noticed that swallowing was getting harder: more of my tongue was paralyzed. Then a new sore spot appeared on the right lateral side of my tongue, and a few small hard pearls of bad tissue under the right-side tip. The underside of my chin is hurting now, and down my neck I can feel a hard, intractable mass. A lymph node under my right arm is the size of a small grape; when did that happen? I noticed it yesterday during that self-inventory I find myself doing every night.

Today I woke up with a hoarse, husky voice--inflammation, if I am lucky.

I didn't expect it to go this fast.

Tucker

Man, i wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy.  I hope and pray that she finds peace.

Full disclosure: I am what the DUers call a Firebagger.

Carry the word back there of what you have seen here.  Let those who call us rethugs, barbarians, terrorists etc. see what we really are when you strip away political differences.

Then, if you can spare the years it will take, try to find similar sentiments over there for one of ours.  Look back on what was said on DU of Tony Snow, one of the most inoffensive, when his cancer came to light.

See if that shows you whose political opinions are informed by true faith, real hope, and selfless charity.
