If you consider staying within wading distance, "seagoing".

Tell that to the ships that accompanied Navy vessels on the way to the Middle East. Or the icebreakers that work the North Sea and in the south near Antarctica.

I thought we weren't supposed to denigrate our armed forces here. Guess I was mistaken.

(sigh)...if you confuse friendly rivalry with denigration, then yes, you are.  It's okay, young padawan, let the butthurt FLOW through you...

Oh, and I know you never did THIS:

USS Pogy (SSN-647), surfaced at the North Pole.  My old boat, a couple of months after I left.

I didn't see that as rivalry. And please stop it with the personal insults.

United States Coast Guard Tribute "Semper Paratus"

Thank you, from a CG veteran.

I posted this under Military, but without the video. Thanks!

"Semper Paratus" is a really great march, always loved it.  Version at the link is a bit over-orchestrated for my taste, but there are plenty of other versions there.

Happy Birthday, Coasties!

Thanks, DAT! Appreciate that from other vets!

Even one of the normally insulting jarheads at the Legion in town said congratulations, and he bought me a beer! I was flabbergasted that he didn't have some snide comment.  :cheersmate:

Unfortunately, it's still left out of many "tributes" and "medlies" to the military services.

Like this version?

Or maybe like this one.

Both great, but the fanfare in and out is kinda space filler, I like the short version used in those medleys, which you can find by itself in a version done by the USN Band here:  http://goatlocker.org/sound/navyband/uscg.mp3

Just remember, ya gotta stay UPWIND of the dope ships when they're on fire and you try to sink them.  Ya'll only carry so much Twinkies and milk.

(True story.)

Oh, and never hotracked after I got qualified.

Pulling into places like Singapore, Thailand, Phillipines, Hong Kong, Sydney, Brisbane, and Lahaina more than made up for any temporary inconvenience.

Just sayin.
