17. Ever try to find a water fountain when you are stuck on a subway when it's over 100 Degrees? You
 CANNOT GET OFF THE TRAIN!

I guess someone should have alerted the Metro board about passengers not being able to get off the train in tunnels before they spent all that money on signage telling people how to get off the train in tunnels.

I don't like KoKo...I think I'll call her KuKu

The ban is back: No more H2O on Metro

WASHINGTON - After telling riders they could drink bottled water on trains and buses because of the stifling weekend heat, Metro is now telling riders to put the water away.

"The issue was discussed this morning at a meeting of the executive leadership team," says Metro spokesperson Dan Stessel. "But we are not continuing the relaxation of the bottled water ban."

Temperatures outside are still hot, but not as sweltering as the weekend. So it's back to the old rules for riders: no drinking on the system.

"There were no issues with allowing the water over the weekend," says Stessel. "But it's a slippery slope. The general manager believes that the (no drinking) rule is a good one and it is in place for a reason."

Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

You can ban people from drinking water?  Which country is Washington DC located?

You can on the Metro - no eating or drinking on the platforms or in the trains.

I understand eating and sodas, but banning water?  Ridiculous.  Guess I am just a spoiled little brat.  I go no where without a bottle of water in my hand.  Even the stores that have "No Food/Drink Allowed" signs allow you to bring your water in.

These shameless people insisting on having their bottled water on the Metro, when the ManBearPig council has proved that using bottled water adds to their carbon footprint.  Have they no shame?

On the Tube in London they have signs and annoucements encouraging water in hot weather...seems a bit patronising and naff to me, but better than banning it when temperatures can get very high.

Are you going to tell us what that is, you petty tyrant, or do we have to just obey like good little sheep, useful idiots that you want the public to be?  I'm so glad I live in a rural place....get in your car or truck and go whereever the hell you feel like going, taking with you whatever you want.

Lots of libs work in DC and ride the Metro, so my sympathy meter is low on this.  They wanted a nanny state, they get to enjoy what they created.

They are  talking about Washington, DC. Those water bottles are filled with vodka or purple drank.

Getting rid of the automobile and forcing everyone but the elites (like the USSR) is all about control and not about efficiency.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

You can take anything you want to eat or drink on the trains, you just can't eat or drink on the trains or in the stations.  I always have a bottle of Diet Pepsi or water with me, but I just refrain from drinking until I'm out of the station.
