I've been eligible for a Verizon upgrade for a few months, but I got a replacement Blackberry in January for free so I've been holding out.

I too have been wavering on whether or not to go for the I-phone.  I'm so used to the Blackberry that I think I'd have trouble adjusting to the touchscreen.  I probably would like the bigger selection of apps, although the Blackberry already has a lot of what I need/use.

Thoughts from anyone on the pros/cons of changing from Blackberry to I-Phone?

my husband did it and is kicking himself for not doing it sooner.

IheartRadio
I use it to stream radio stations. With an inline adapter I was able to play it over one of the XM radio inputs for the car stereo.

Facebook
Netflix...you can stream movies and show on it.

I also have VNC and TeamViewer on it so I can remote into certain PCs and servers at work.

Did you get a iphone 3 or 4? The 5 should be coming out in November if you believe the rumors.

already ordered the Otterbox Defender in pink and black  :shucks:

There is a great facebook page -- momswithapps (https://www.facebook.com/momswithapps?ref=ts).  They review apps for children, and give free apps away every Friday.

My phone is loaded with apps for my kids -- which is very helpful when we have to wait at doctor's office etc.

Ok tell me something.

I bought the 2gb data package.  When I open up Apps is that using up my data package or what?

what uses up my data package and how can I tell how much I have used so I don't go over?

The way I understand it, the Data package kicks in when you do anything online using the 3G network. If you're on a wi-fi connection, you're not using the data package.

For example, if you download a Kindle book, or a tv show, or something from iTunes, you're using data. If you're sending pics, etc., you're using data.

Basically anything you do online outside of a wi-fi connection is using data, especially sending/receiving stuff.

Oh  so if I am parked in a McDonalds or some place like that I can surf for free?

But if I am not near a wifi and open up the myradar app to look at the storm, that is transmitting data? right? and thus I will be charged?

Check with your plan, but I'm almost positive they charge for data only when you're using the AT&T network. Just make sure you have that little antenna thing going and not 3G, or you'll start using your data plan.

Gina my dear,

Frank sent me here for what reason I do not know.

I do not know or care what an iphon is, I can keep track of my business quite well with a note book.

I also do not own a cell phone, Hubby has one but I suspect he only uses it for phone sex calls.

Too much dependence on technology, a good solar flare can render most of it useless.

I had just learned to take great pictures with my 35mm camera and now cannot find old time film on a roll. The new cameras drive me nuts, a teckie I am not.

http://www.idownloadblog.com/2008/10/11/using-an-iphone-without-the-data-plan/

does this sound good?

All that does is turn off data so it doesn't charge your plan (or provide data), you should be able to do that w/ the iphone 4 in settings.

Depends on which apps.  Apps like fox news or the weather channel need the Internet.  The best way I've found is to turn off your cellular data and then try to access your apps.  Each one will tell if you're using data while on it.  I do recommend that you avoid using YouTube or Netflix except on wifi.

Yep.  Get the myat&t app or use *DATA# to keep track of your data.
