debt limit hostage taking == filibuster
credit where credit is due, republicans sure know how to (ab)use the rules to their advantage.
in the senate, they milk the filibuster for all it's worth. then when democrats try to use it at all, the whinge and threaten to revoke the privilege.
in the house itself, of course, majority rules and there's no filibuster. however, when it comes to legislation, republicans are in the minority -- they control only one of the two houses of congress and they don't control the white house.
they SHOULD be acting like minority players in legislation, but they've figured out how to (ab)use the system to their advantage once again.
the debt ceiling drama is should be seen as just another ploy in the larger set of republican slimeball tactics to leverage their minority representation into a domineering legislative negotiating position, just as they abuse the filibuster in the senate.
democrats have their flashes of parliamentary brilliance, but i *SO* wish we had tacticians like the republicans do.
then again, their prime tactic is spreading around oodles of cash, and one need not be a tactical genius when you've got a pot of gold to motivate people. still, i *SO* wish we had that pot of gold as well.
Remember when the lame-duck democrats reinstated the Bush tax cuts?
It's the GOP *before* they controlled 1/2 of 1/3 of the government that is to blame.

1. It Has Less to Do With Tactics Than It Does with the Repiglickin' Media
It sure would be nice if there actually WAS a liberal media.

There's no liberal media...anywhere...ever

2. It is hostage taking terrorism in its purest sense.
So the GOP = terrorist hostage takers
And there is no liberal media to get this message out:
Or is there?
CHRIS MATTHEWS: Also, is the Republican Party willing to risk economic armageddon in the name of religion, that is the religion of no taxes? Well, the GOP has become the Wahhabis of American government,

SIDE NOTE: It seems odd that the faction that could not stir itself to any action beyond blaming Bush and defaming the US military during the GWoT now suddenly is roused to fight terrorism...so long as terrorism is defined as an aversion to raising taxes...which as we all know: if the GOP did consent to higher taxes, not only would dems welch on the budget cuts and program restructuring they would be running "Read My Lips" ads against the GOP just as they did against Bush the Elder.
Make no mistake: they are working themselves into a lather. They *want* America to be the next Greece. They want the chaos because they believe they are the phoenix to rise from the ashes and usher in the glorious People's Paradise. Reagan defeated their precious USSR. They will have their revenge.
