Charging of cellphone leads to misdemeanor charges

BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor police officer conducting a check of downtown businesses arrested a local transient shortly before 12:30 a.m. Saturday after finding him charging his two cellphones in an outdoor electrical outlet hidden behind some flowers on Harlow Street.

Shaun Fawster, 23, was charged with theft of services as well as with carrying a concealed weapon, Bangor police Lt. Jeff Millard said Tuesday, citing an arrest report.

The report indicated that Fawster had a folding knife tucked underneath his shirt, Millard said.

Fawster, who was taken to Penobscot County Jail after his arrest, since has been released on bail, a jail official confirmed.

The concealed weapon charge is really dumb. I can understand why a homeless person would need to carry a knife.
Most hobos are frantically looking for work.

I wouldn't think twice about plugging something into an exposed outlet on the side of a public place. There are outlet covers with locks if someone wants to keep people from using their juice. How much electricity does a cell phone even use to charge? That is just evil.  

Using the same logic, DUmmy Starry Messenger wouldn't think twice about taking something from an unlocked car, either.

For such a cold place, Bangor has a lot of bums.  I used to live there, and they were forever bumming smokes off people leaving restaurants downtown.  They weren't the obvious schizo types, either.  They looked like normal young guys.
