DUmmy Snoutport is worried:

Oh Crap.
$%&#@ #$&^@%$ ##@&@&@!!!! Oh man...my big mouth on DU might have just got me in a whole lot of trouble!

For those of you who follow my posts you know I am a teacher...and you know I am a pretty outspoken advocate for my students in these tough times. I have made quite a few DU posts about education--the super salty school lunches (and how I got in trouble for complaining), the budget cuts at our legislative level (special ed is getting the sh$t kicked out of it) and the district cuts.

Today I am sitting in a meeting and the discussion turned to recent cuts and a discussion of articles in the paper. Then a BIGWIG says "Did you read that article on Democratic...uhm...uhm...Democratic Underground?" I nearly sh#t (pardon my French...I'm pretty freaked out) my pants (les pantaloons?).

I knew it was a risk sharing information on DU and in such a public way but I never expected to be sitting in a meeting with people I work with discussing googling my DU post about budget cuts and staff cuts...and how awful the effects them are. OMG.

I'm shaking again thinking of it. My initial reaction was I needed to race home, write a DU farewell post and then pull the plug on good old Snoutport. That still might be the option I choose...but that still won't wipe away my footprint. My Snoutport posts are out there forever. I learned that when I was googling the phone hacking/Rupert Murdoch stories--and one of my DU posts--with a link back to DU--was posted verbatim. Those posts will never go away.

And my education stories...if you were to pull them all up off of google it wouldn't take them five minutes to figure out it was me writing them. Killing Snoutport doesn't get rid of Snoutport's writings.

I guess I should start by sanitizing my journal while I decide. If you want to check out my educational posts they will all be gone later tonight. If I decide to pull the plug on Snoutport I'll send out a shout out and then kill it. I'll come back, of course, with a new name but I must admit, I'm really sad that the little bitty legacy I have made typing in here is something I am really proud of. I am still pleased when I think about one of my posts hitting 500 recs and DUers were sending me messages to tell me what a big deal that was. Just today one of my posts just hit 20,000 readers!!!! I'm a teacher for goodness sake! Every time someone reads one of my more personal posts (My hubby is about to walk in the door!) or school posts I really feel an importance in that. I'm teaching in a big way when 20,000 people read something I suggest.

I guess what has happened is I've really grown fond of Snoutport (and the star a certain dear DUer gave me after reading one of my posts she really liked). I liked that Snoutport was standing up for people. I liked that people would see a post of mine and read it because the liked Snoutport's stuff. I don't want to have to start over as....Aardvarkguy or Monkeyhead!

Has anyone else had to deal with DU posts intruding into their professional lives? Any other teachers have advice? We are facing budget cuts and troublemakers are not going to be kindly looked at...and, believe me, I'm already seen as a trouble maker (but I'm also their golden boy).

Any advice would be awesome.

When I first read this, I thought it was great that DUmmy Snoutport was in a walldudish position and would pay a price for being a stupid DUmbass.
But the more I think about it, the more I suspect that homo Snoutport has been reading franksolich on internet security, and was inspired to spin a bouncy tale.

4. No--BUT
I've given some pretty good descriptions of my job...and there are not many jobs like mine. And I talked about complaints I have made and I'm probably the only one who has made those complaints. eeeeek!

I have never before known a male, even a swishy democrat male, to use the term "eeeeek".

7. Oh, I know. It's all out there. I never shared anything that I wasn't comfortable sharing
but I guess nobody I worked with would bring it up!!! I guess it just means that I have to give up the anonymous side of things...and then basically I am blogging.

I guess I just mourn the loss of really being free to cuss or talk about my GAY husband. Lol...it is all out there now. But if I stay as Snoutport I will no longer be able to share with as much candor. Common sense won't allow that...even if it is my right. I love my job (as my posts all show) and want to keep it.

Now you know why I hate those $&%#$'d cornuts!!! (they were in the lunches on monday...but I was armed with carrots (which we steamed in the microwave).

The internet is swarming with faggotty teachers bitching about corn nuts.

13. Well, first bit of advice is to not do exactly what you did here.
You just gave your self away. That bigwig has now confirmed any suspicions they may have had.
I would edit this post and go to your mirror and work on your "WAT?" face.
Practice the lines "What kind of idiot would do THAT? Do you really think I'm that stupid?"
Don't post stuff that is readily identifying unless you have nothing to lose by being identified.

took the time to denigerate Democratic Underground, and throw it in your face.

26. yep -- gotta be careful

someone I was about to enter into business with found my identity on DU by googling key words, and brought the printed pages of my posts to our meeting.

I guess after they found out you are a DUmpmonkey they decided to take their business elsewhere.

I wonder if grasswire boasted about smoking pot.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Here's a tidbit for ya, DUmmies--a few years back, a Ronulan DID try to get me fired from my job for comments I'd made.

It didn't work, although I was asked to tone down comments and restrict "personal" time on the computer to lunch and breaks.  For her trouble, she got her ass booted from the board, and AFAIK, still sulks around, pissing and moaning.

Bottom line, if people want to find out who you are, it's not that difficult.  I say nothing on here I haven't said IRL.  If that presents a problem to you, sucks for you.

My hubby is about to walk in the door!!

The dog will go crazy when she hears the key in the lock. She will jump up and down, wag her tail whimper a little bit (he likes to tease the dog so he takes foreeeeeever to open the door). The cats also come running so there is a whole line of pets waiting to say hello. He'll force his way in, jumping through pets, trying not to let the cats out. I just kind of sit back and wait a minute until they are done mauling him. It's pretty funny to watch. After they are all settled I'll follow him into the kitchen while he washes his hands (As a joke I usually tell him, "Don't even think about touching me with those bus hands!") Then we kiss hello, we talk about making tea or coffee, what's for dinner, glass of wine? juice? He'll go change while I start dinner.

I'll try to figure out a way to make vegetables appealing and today we're having tofu kielbasa thingies he picked out at the store. Since he doesn't cook he will pick these odd things I have no idea what to do with. I accept blame since I tricked him into going grocery shopping at the organic grocery...the old "we don't have anything sweet to eat...this place has a good bakery" always works. He thought he was getting a donut...I made him go pick out some dinner choices. Tofu kielbasas (he'd eat sausage every day if I'd let him) and broccoli. He will only eat broccoli and asparagus. As a kid he would sit at the table for hours if his mother tried to get him to eat anything but those two vegetables. He will eat fried potatoes and his favorite vegetable is now an onion. I will bet a good chunk of people reading this will nod their heads because they too have somehow become the family cook and know how hard a job it is!

We'll sit in front of the tv and eat dinner, talk about our day, play with the pets. I might tickle him a little because he hates it but I can't help it. We'll watch Antiques Roadshow because I like it and he can't find anything he actually likes, so I win. Then he'll surf around or pull up a Tosh.O show or we'll catch up on 30 Rock. A dog walk. We'll talk each other into putting the dishes off until tomorrow. Read on the couch or surf the web, both probably. He is reading ancient greek translations, I am halfway through a very dry book about this ancient egyptian city that dumped all its papyrus in a dump where it was preserved until being discovered last century. Mostly shopping lists and deeds and marriage contracts...that everyday stuff is everywhere...but also pages of greek poetry and literature. They have found works that had been completely lost to time. Then it will be time to start getting ready for bed.

That's pretty much it. That's what us married gay couples do in the evening. Just thought I'd share it.

'He' also likes to pretend he's married.

As I recall it relates back to some hysterical diatribe over the fact Corn Nuts were on the lunch menu at 'Her' school.

Here in P_town we have at least one that I remember seeing.  We do have an exceptionally large group of refugees from the People's Republic of Taxachusetts who have invaded our fair city.  They expect big city service for small town tax rates.  Most are beyond child bearing years ( a slight plus) and have lots of disposable time and income.

And come on Sparky, it wasn't that hard for the Ronulan to unearth you.  I mean after all, you did post a picture of yourself with your name tape prominently displayed and mentioned where you worked. Not like she was some Shirley Holmes. Certifiable she may indeed have been along with a couple others on there but an internet sleuth?  Not even.  Heck, even the lesbonian ID'ed you, probably did a drive by on your 20, I think you could have converted her.  :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:
