...to let the country go into default.
The dems are putting this off and demagoguing it for all that it is worth. They have their base and they refuse to give it up out of self-interest.
The public says, "Cut the pie, just not my slice!" We can talk and reason and beg all we want. You certainly can't drag people by their heels into freedom.
The GOP just doesn't have the balls. They cut .0001% off of last year's budget and quail over the shellacking they took in the press about "draconian cuts." If 1/10,000th is too much to ask from them than a full 50% back to 2008 levels will surely paralyze them.
Every one refuses to scale back entitlements.
OK, fine.
At this point I honest believe the ship of state has too much forward momentum to keep it off the iceberg ahead. Here's the ****ing check book; do it your way. Let's party on the way out.
In 10 years we will be flat busted and you'll lose your entitlements by default. At that point we will win by default. The only programs left will be those we actually need and are constitutionally mandated, i.e. defense and civil order.
Sure our currency will be wiped out. There will be rampant lawlessness and people will literally starve in the streets.
meh...we told 'em
Don't worry about China. As soon as they realize they were taken for a $5TN and we're too broke to buy their shit they will fold as well.
The illegals will be run out. Families will once again be forced to care for their own rather than push them off on to the bureaucrats. Work and education will be the highest virtues of well-being. The self-indulgence of our spoiled brat society will give way to self-reliance and mistrust of government.
In a generation or two after we climb out of our pit someone will then say, "Maybe we need an entitlement program" and he will be summarily beaten to death on the spot.
Perhaps what conservatives need to do is to stop trying to right a ship already headed for the inevitable. Perhaps what we need to do is begin networking to provide the social and material support the properly self-reliant advocate.
