DUmmy Offers A Job - DUmp Attacks
« on: March 07, 2011, 04:17:50 PM »
DUmbass Soral, who is very likely a troll, claims to have an open job. The DUmp hates the idea that anyone has a job available, when there are so many federal programs that will send checks without the nuisance of getting up to go to a job.

Why can't I find a single person to do a FullTime tech job in Boston?
This is a 2-pronged post.

#1. I hear people complain about the job market.... In my opinion... and based on some facts (I can't find them right now) But technologies jobs have more openings than there are qualified candidates to fill them.

#2. I have a technology generalist job open in Boston, and I want someone right out of college.... For the life of me, I can't find 1 single qualified person.
What are the reasons for this...???

2. I'm a single old (45) person in the Boston area ...
too bad I'm not qualified.

Uh oh, the first tentative shot at DUmmy Soral.

3. Is age discrimination legal in Boston?

Poor, stupid Beth, crammed into that little travel trailer out in the California desert with her senile mother and two big dogs, is concerned about discrimination in Boston. It's second on her list, right after Yugo Chavez.

9. Are you all so naive?
Hey, I want to place the best person for the best job, I don't care if you are 150 years old, or are a purple muslim hippie.
BUT, companies will always have a person in mind... and will look for that at the cost of rejecting others who may be qualified.

But the bigger question remains... where are all the young tech people?
DUmmy Soral lobs a hanging curve, begging the purple muslim hippies at the DUmp to take a swing.

41. Seriously - what the **** is with that 'young person' shit.
It you need someone with .net and SQL - what in god's name does that have to do with their age? Are you also requiring the person have a penis?

I find your post EXTREMELY offensive

83. First off, recent college grad does not automatically == 'young person'.
Second - people working in the tech industry also have 'up to date training'. And finally - the OP has answered a number of posts indicating that his 'client' is the one looking for a 'young person'. His words. And that is an illegal hiring practice.

There you have DUmmy Matariki's interviewing style. Astonishingly, he is still unemployed.

18. There is no where to apply, HR in most companies don't know how to hire anymore
Which is part of the problem our economy faces.

Companies want to hire, but there is sooooooooo much red tape in HR, that it takes forever, and you have an HR girl looking for a skill-specific specialist, something the HR person doesn't know anything about... how can they know if the person is right?

HR is a major stalling problem in this job recovery for America.

Really? Are the males in those departments "HR boys?"

Another vote for the OP being bullshit. If you can't find entry level tech people in the Boston area, you're no more qualified than that "HR girl."

Probably because you're advertising
for a "young person" and most people realize that's:

1: Illegal
or
2: A front looking for a hot chick that you can stare at all day.
or
3: You aren't paying enough to make that horrible commute worth it.
DUmmy sharp_stick is also chronically unemployed.

35. you are missing the point
I know its illegal to discriminate on age.

BUT, when a client calls me, and says "I am looking for a young, recent college grad to do A, B, C"

What am I suppose to do?

Send someone old, that they will reject, and question what I am doing?

Report them to EEOC?

Surely, DUmmy Soral knows that, at the DUmp, the first thing you do is report your employer to some government agency.

How many DUmmies does it take to fill out a job application?

None! By the time the DUmmies finish arguing about how racist/sexist/agist/homophobic the want-ad was, the company has hired somebody who is actually qualified, from overseas.

I think the idea of work scares them too much. They probably lobby the paper to get rid of the classifieds altogether.

Well, they thought they could spend mommy and daddy's (and taxpayer's) 35K a year at UM-Amherst, BU, BC, etc., doing kegstands and majoring in Wymun's Studies, etc.  They didn't realize they were actually (gasp!) expected to major in something that would make them EMPLOYABLE...

A company has an opening.

They can't afford monster/dice to pay for a job posting... its on their own website, but they don't advertise it because their HR is incompetent.

Does anyone know what Dice.com charges to post a help-wanted ad?

He could have posted a job for a week and had more applicants than he would know what to do with.  From what I've seen, Dice is one of the better job sites for IT/technical work.

Funny, most major companies that "go to the street" and post positions on their corporate websites use recruiters as well, not HR types, especially when it technical positions are involved.

The ones that solely rely on word filters in their software to look for keywords on submissions are, frankly, lazy.

43. I hate this idea of a "qualified" person

I am thinking that if I got 3-4 weeks of training that I, myself, could do almost any tech job, at least on the programming side. But this employer apparently expects a guy like me, who already has 8 years of worthless college education, to take a whole bunch more courses with the hopes that some employer will find them useful.

Sorry, not gonna happen. Why should I throw good money after bad?

Ultimate FAIL.  The more you get into tech the more you realize how specialized it gets sometimes.  DUmmie has apparently never taken a computer programming class in college (I took FORTRAN and C++ just to fulfill requirements) and even that is only an introduction, not a demonstration of proficiency.

Some of the best programmers I knew when I was working for SCE LIVED on a keyboard, and I just happened to benefit from their knowledge by practicing what they taught me and beat me over the head with.

Oh, and DUmmies?  Sitting behind a desk and pushing the latest version of McAfee to your clients does not a programmer make.

Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.
