A great disturbance in the force...
A week ago I said that within 12 to 24 moths we would start seeing protests in the US. That is near in historic terms. I knew that we were nearing the point of stand up, or lose it for a generation or more. I am happy to say that the disturbance in the force was closer to us. It is now in Wisconsin. It will spread, call it a sneaky feeling. But people have come to see these republicans for what they are. Think about it this way...

Speaker but we may lose upwards of 50K jobs!

Well yes they were CREATED by the feds...

To his corner of the country that sounds great. but to most Americans who clik through C-SPAN on to Sports Center and DO NOT consume either LEfT wing or RIGHT wing media... that was tone deaf. They were elected to CREATE jobs... and they don't care that those jobs are eeevvilll guv'ment jobs, or not. Jobs is jobs is jobs. So yes there is a disturbance in the force, and what you see is the leading edge of people FINALLY getting it.

We are too early to see where this is going , but it is going somewhere.

Now I have found something else of interest. Well not shocking, really, if you know popular dynamics, I am all a-twitter with this. I want to see the American people finally going WE'VE HAD IT... but to some people here this is scary. Trust me, I understand. As much as this is exciting, worst case scenarios are never nice. But do try to roll with it. There is something about forces that build, and cannot be stopped. This is very likely one of those... so no use in trying to stop it.

Oh and to the elected officials in DC... you guys and gals better get behind this, as usual... or dust comes to mind.

But yes, there is a great disturbance in the force.

No, Nadine.  The men and women elected to government last year were mostly sent to get an out of control government that was killing job creation and endangering the country with unchecked deficit spending at all levels.

2. Interesting post,
Although I see it as a pleasant wave in the force.

The disturbance was trying to take my beer and travel money years ago by smear. That was a wtf moment for me.

I wonder if a better society that is more balanced will correct the beer and travel money issue, very interesting question, but more justice and compassion is really important also.

Dude, I rather suspect your entire life has been a WTF moment.

Yes, it's going to be one of those points where people that didn't care notice just how greedy a lot of the public workers unions are.  It isn't going to work in your favor.

10. An excellent vision.
 As usual.

My only concern is the control of the media, and subsequently the morons, that the corporations evidently have. When things go south, they'll just blame the 'liberals'.

Still, I'm glad about the point you've made. It may well be part of our saving grace.

Who will have been the ones that were trying to enslave everybody else using the laws?  That's right, the liberals.

It used to be the mimeograph... these days it is the net. We may have to go back to the mimeograph. Kill switch, there is a reason for that.

The alternate press, like say AM talk radio?

15. I agree with you about the disturbance. I've felt it too.
And I think that what you sense may be a sort of rumbling caused by the opposing forces struggling within the heads of many people. Many are suffering great anxiety caused by cogitive dissonance -- heads about to explode. Republican "truths" that they have long taken to be self-evident are being demonstrated to be false.

Three Jedi in one thread.  This one appears to truly embrace Jedi beliefs as well.  Generally that they are the supermen who should be ruling everyone else.

"But people have come to see these republicans for what they are..." It's not a matter of it just being the Republicans who are to blame here. There are plenty of SOB's on the Democratic side who share just as much of the blame. The reality is that Congress -- by/buy and large -- is owned by the corporate special interest and other big money in this country. The people have no voice, so we have no choice. We must take to the streets or fall in defeat.

And who else is that big money?  The Unions perhaps?

33. Watching it from the UAE is a bit scary... and Robert Kaplan
one of Wolfewitz's neocon buddies and chest beater in the press for the Iraq war is coming to my campus in one week. I have a few choice questions I want to ask him. Will also be passing along the information to the students. I don't think they will be happy when they find out who this guy actually is!

However, I will expect protests in the UAE at the same time they hit Palm Beach.

However, Bahrain, KSA, Oman, Kuwait, those are all different kettles of fish. It would be highly unlikely to happen in UAE and Qatar.

Running down autocratic regimes that are at least friendly to you in a region that is strategic to you and replacing them with autocratic regimes that are not friendly to you is beyond stupid, but that is what you Jedi think is a good idea.

Nadin is an etymologist, apparently.  Although how you could see anything, much less protests, within a dozen or two moths is beyond my ability to comprehend.  I am certain the smartest people on the internets have deduced the process though.  Either that or in their revolutionary zeal, not only do they forget to practice personal hygiene, but safe spelling as well.

That pesky 2nd Amendment rears its head again . . . The "demonstrators" are in for a really nasty surprise.

This is not 1920 or so, I cannot find anything a union can do for anyone that State and Federal laws don't do in 2011. Unless someone decides to work at one job for most of their life to collect a retirement at an early age, and want insurance that no matter how incompetent they are they cannot be fired that easily, why bother with them??

Last labor job I had, and had to join a Union ,I think the Union was Aerospace and Design.  Interesting as I spent 8 hours a day putting the tops on empty tooth paste tubes.

Then there was one Union Shop that I was under some Union I cannot even remember to this day where I worked 7 1/2 hours running a big machine that wound small cable to make Xmas trees.     This was a fun job as the job was less then 8 hours so from 11 -6;30 AM or so,  we only got one 15 minute break.  As most of the jobs did not require workers to be on their feet I asked why we were not at least given chairs or stools to sit on, my answer was it was not in the Union Requirements.   What were the Union Requirements for this job, I never found out, At no Union place I worked was I ever given any kind of information on what my rights were under a Union or even the state labor laws.

In 40 years of working at different nonunion jobs I have never had any money removed from my pay check and not be told why and what I was paying for.

It was 20 years later that I found out that had I contuned to pay Union dues even after I quit a job, I could receive retirements from that Union.    I worked with an older man who had joined the Teamsters at a young age, quit that job but had paid Union dues all those years even when he was in the military and all other nonunion jobs since.   He was but a year or so from collecting his Teamster Pension, SS and as a veteran  still had his GI loan program and what not.     If he dropped dead before he retired his wife and family would still get all these things so he was a happy camper.

This coworker had some pull from family to get him into that Union and when he left the job educate him on how and what he could do to protect his future.  Most of us do not have the advantage he had, inside help, and God Bless Him, he was smart enough to listen.

As you can see I am not a fan of Unions,   There is nothing they can do for anyone that the Labor laws can not do.  In some jobs such as coal, iron, copper mines where a union is needed to protect the workers, it seems it does little for their safety as we have seen time after time on TV the horror of W. Virgina as an example.     Crap,   Rant ended for now.

IMHO....Since 1920/30...the automobile did more to improve the working conditions of the working class than has the unions.

You could, until recently, sit by the main road through here and watch labor use the automobile to move to better working conditions, to better pay and a better living. The working poor farm labor from 45 miles east of here would be on the their way to and from work here in the Cotton Mills and related industries. All the while, the better educated and whatever from here would be on their way to and from work further west of here. Before the automobile, cotton mill workers lived/rented in company housing around and within walking distance of the mill. Their lives were controlled and in time with the "work whistle". If you lived out in the country, you're only choice was to move to town or try to scratch out a living farming. With advent of the automobile you no longer had a captive work force incapable of escaping to a better, more distant job. Therefore you had to offer workers shorter days, better pay, better working conditions that what they had so as to attract workers.

Why do you think the government wants mass transit and short range electric cars? They can control if you travel, when you travel and how far you travel. Somebody has to do those jobs no one else wants to do and this is the way to force you to do them.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

A great disturbance in the force...

No you didn't sweetheart, that was last night's dinner.

Seriously, nadine-letters, there has been a shift and there is a palpable mood in the country right now.  It is a mood, however, that is not going to be to your liking.  Nobody really likes the unions anymore and they especially don't like government unions.  Your comrades in Wisconsin decided to throw a fit over having to fund more of their healthcare and their pensions.  They threw their fit in front of the very people (taxpayers) they want to foot the bill.  It's not smart to bite the hand that feeds you, nadine-letters.

History has shown that when you rile decent and civilized people, they act.  And when they act, they finish the job.  Think carefully before you kick that hornet's nest.

Things are going to change, my dear, of that you can be sure.

Well said, vesta, and spot on.

Someone needs to tell Nadin she's peeking too early. She's gonna wear herself out before the next DUmmie of the year! She's got way too much potential for that.

They can't say that it is because the poll has been "freeped", no with those kinds of numbers.

Has anyone noticed that you never hear a peep on the results at CNN of any poll that doesn't go full on moonbat?
