CBS may not be commenting, but since I've been up since 4:30 this morning (

), it's been all over the tv. I started with Fox at 4:30, watching last night's reruns, and Fox and Friends, til I switched it over to the local CBS affiliate, then the CBS morning show, and it's been reported all morning. Every news brief and even the anchors talking about it. All have wished her a speedy recovery.
I understand that women want these assignments just as the men do....but I don't understand why....a young, fairly sexy, BLONDE, woman, that I am assuming is intelligent or she wouldn't be an international correspondent...was dressed the way she was, going into that type of situation in that part of the world?
Common sense should have told her to be as completely covered as much as possible, and a baseball cap covering up all that blonde hair. Like M said, when he saw it this morning, said she might as well have been waving a red flag in front of a bull.
I am in no way making excuses for those animals that attacked her....but, geesh o'Pete! Those couldn't have been the only clothes she had with her going into a predominately muslim area. Even if they were, she could have buttoned up her jacket to her neck, and borrowed a ball cap from one of the guys on her crew.
Her crew must be feeling so guilty, for getting separated from her. They have to be constantly thinking that one of them could have either prevented the attack, or gotten her away.
Thank God, for the women who heard her, and brought the soldiers. She's very lucky. I hope and pray, that not only does she have a complete physical recovery, but also a good emotional recovery - if that is possible.
I do hope, that any future reporters going into the area, both female and male....take this atrocity to heart, and make sure that they have either bodyguards or very large crew members that stick to them like glue.
