In deep blue moonbat CT, we had to show pic ID. Here in NY, we have to sign our name, which gets matched to the original sig by a team of civic-minded little old ladies.
NY has made it a personal and financial disaster if any shop owner sells booze or cigs to minors. They will confiscate your store and bankrupt you. So, you have to show an ID to buy those items, even if you're 100 years old.
CT. is interesting, driving to Maine for my sons graduation I and 2 kids stopped at a camp ground for the night. We had no camping equipment just blankets to sleep on the ground with----I had driven for 12 hours straight and needed to get some rest. However this was a Sunday and I was in need of a ice cold beer. I drove to a quick stop and got there 5 minutes before they closed the beer coolers, At that time on a Sunday all beer and wine sales stopped at 6 pm. on a Sunday. However the next morning at 6:30 am when I stopped for coffee and breakfast the coolers were open to sell beer and wine.
Tenn. in the wet county's are also fun, if one gets out of work after midnight the quick stores will have paper bags on the counter and a police radio going full blast. Walk in, pick up a bag, go the cooler place a six pack in it with price tag up, the counter person will look into the bag and see only the price and you are on your way. No ID required.
California blew my mind, coming from a state with Green Fronts--State Liqueur Stores What a surprise to find in the vegetable and fruit section bottles of Vodka and Rum.
We have the problem of identification here now, police will send an 18 year old into a bar with a fake ID, get served and the server and management get huge fines. This I believe is entrapment,. Then there are people that are rather large that can really hold their liqueur.. They go bar hopping and on the way home have an accident. They sue the last bar that served them and perhaps all the bars they went to for not beaning able to tell what their tolerance for booze is. Some folks can drink a pint of Vodka and win 6 out of 7 games of horse shoe, drive a car or fly a plane, then there are those that cannot walk out the door after 2 drinks.
Put the blame on those that over imbibe, business men are not responsible for what customers do with their products, any more then a hardware store is responsible for a customer that buys light bulbs, goes to the men's room and shoves them up their Ass.
