bobbolink's Journal

Doing something useful.... being proactive.

Recently a DUer posted about being pissed and doing something useful with it.

There are a lot of posts now about Social Security, reminding people here that SS does NOT enlarge the debt, etc. Most of us here know that.... but clearly, the conservative left and the conservative right can play on the misinformation that independents are getting from the media.

DUers have shhown that they are capable of raising Big Bucks for various purposes, including wonderful and compassionate efforts like providing surgery for a DUer who was in desparate need, and buying thousands of roses for congresscritters, etc.

So, here's a thought about doing something useful and shortcircuiting the corporate media:

What about taking up a collection to be used for a full- or even half-page ad in the NYT, giving important and truthful facts about SS? I have been involved with an organization who has put in an ad in NYT, had had very good results.

I had no idea buick girl had a journal. Lots of spelling errors.

Yeah, lots of primitives have journals.

In fact, damn near all of them.

I've never paid attention, but sometime I wonder if I'm ignoring a gold mine.

Dear Diary....

I want a free pony.
Bobbo's list of requirements for said pony would be so lengthy, they would have to create it in a lab using nuclear fusion and fairy dust.

If it spent one tenth of the time it spends bitching about being homeless looking for a job or working on a marketable skill, it would probably no longer be homeless.

Seems to me like she's always coming up with this same old idea.  Solve the plight of the homeless by taking up a collection to buy advertising and billboard space, to "educate the public about the truth."  This is her only idea.  The DUmp coos, and pets her, and tells her what a fabulous plan that is.  +1 K&R!

I don't know what she's picturing.  Some dude driving along, sees the billboard and goes  :thatsright:!  "I need to sign the deed to my house right now over to this slovenly woman right here in this beat-up car!"

Even then, it wouldn't be enough for her.  And, she'd be pissed that they thought they were no longer obligated to her just because they had actually supplied the pony.

And who are they going to send to clean up after it?  It damned well better be someone bonded and insured, who will do other incidental odd jobs for her when they do show up!

Heh, heh! I'm curious as to what lies we are spreadin' though. Does the back seat panhandler list them?
