I was almost mugged one time when I was out with a lady friend and managed to avoid it.

Not by the HK .45 subcompact I was carrying but instead by lauging, smiling, and telling the young thug "It would serve you well, my friend, to not play with someone who has taken the concept of disproportionate violence and turned it into an artform".  Then shaking my head, while laughing, and saying "Your mother is going to cry when she sees what I've done to you".
