I read some of the comments on FB, from sailors who had been on this cruise where the videos were done, and subsequent cruises with Capt Honors. They mentioned how high he kept the morale while they were out to sea, and how much it meant to them, because they were in a war zone.
My son was stationed on an aircraft carrier for 3.5 years. During that time, they were on two long cruises and a couple of short ones. Every cruise had a least one suicide, if not more, either during the cruise or immediately upon return home.
He has also told me that there were sailors - both male and female - that everyone knew they were gay. I'm sure there were several on the Enterprise during EVERY cruise. If there were major objections, at the time, there would have been complaints at the time! Somebody's on a witch hunt.
If these videos prevent just one suicide, then they served the purpose for which they were intended.
