What surprises me is the number of (supposedly) military folks who are wholeheartedly in support of letting the guy fry.

Seriously?  WTF ever happened to the concepts of "timely correction" and "let the punishment fit the crime"?

Yeah, what he did was pretty damn dumb, but in no way justifies the level of hysterics we're seeing.

I think this is being blow out of proportion. I personally don't have any issue with it but the thought he will be relieved of command over this disgusts me.  :banghead:

My grandfather was in the Navy most of his life, I heard many stories about stuff that went on :)

What can we do? I read some of the comments on FB, from sailors who had been on this cruise where the videos were done, and subsequent cruises with Capt Honors. They mentioned how high he kept the morale while they were out to sea, and how much it meant to them, because they were in a war zone.

My son was stationed on an aircraft carrier for 3.5 years. During that time, they were on two long cruises and a couple of short ones. Every cruise had a least one suicide, if not more, either during the cruise or immediately upon return home.

He has also told me that there were sailors - both male and female - that everyone knew they were gay. I'm sure there were several on the Enterprise during EVERY cruise. If there were major objections, at the time, there would have been complaints at the time! Somebody's on a witch hunt. 

If these videos prevent just one suicide, then they served the purpose for which they were intended.

* Assigned to the “Be-Devilers” of VF-74, and deployed aboard USS Saratoga (CV 60) to the Mediterranean Sea. During this tour, he attended U.S. Naval Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) and was selected to attend U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, graduating in 1990.

And he gets the boot for a dumb movie? When the Navy brass said that they were going to allow women to become Bubbleheads I knew right then and there that the Armed Forces as a whole was sinking fast.
