Normal evening here, probably fairly early to bed.

<------getting old {sigh}

All of you who live in quieter areas are lucky.

My first NYE in Las Vegas, we went to bed early... only to wake up at midnight thinking the city was under attack.  We live four miles from the Las Vegas Strip and all of those fireworks rattled our wall decor.  Now I just stay up until midnight so I don't wake up thinking we are being bombed.
You may call me Jessica or Jess.

We're going to be in bed and asleep before midnight.  I do have a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge though.  Our son is living with us while he tries to get back on his feet financially and it's his (MY) turn to have his son for several weeks, but even without that, we wouldn't be going anywhere.  We live in a quiet neighborhood so all the excitement will be on the tv watching different parts of the world ring in the new year.  I love VISITING Las Vegas, Jess, but can definitely understand how living there would quickly pall.

Geez AM.  I never thought about the horses.  NYE will be at my house this year.  Here, you can sit in front of the windows with a moderate amount of security.  Not so much at the boyfriends tho.  Every holiday there are more shells on the street.   :(

Poor horses.

Go to bed after the So. Carolina - FSU game is over.  The way I see it, I stayed up and saw it go from 1999 to 2000 (so no more 19--) and from 2000 to 2001 (new millenium), so everything beyond that is mediocre.

I ended up going to a friend's house.  Lots of people.  Lots of food.  Stopped by a famous old bar in town on the way home.

I watched some very drunk guys putting a shock collar on a very drunk friend of theirs who had been 86ed (so the story went) at a bar they wanted to go to.  The thinking was that if they showed the barmaid that they (the friends) could control the wild man, they would all be allowed in.

I left just before they tested it.

We are popping fireworks with the neighbors and drinking a mixture of liquors.  The one time of year I love.  We couldn't pop fireworks for years. We finally live in the sticks and it's full out crazy.  The po po made a pass and left.  They don't care.

That Bailey's is so good. You forget it's liquor until you get up.   :-)

If you lived near us Chris, I'd love for you to come over.  I have a kid about your age and he's just as silly.

Happy New Year.

We had a good celebration...have 3 of the 5 grandkids still here from Christmas, so we played Operation and Connect 4 all night, drank non-alcoholic bubbly at midnight, and then put everyone to bed as soon as the fireworks stopped.   :-) :-)

OK, so I'm boring.  Sorry.   :lmao:

We went to our fav restaurant early -6pm. Sat at the bar, I had a couple of wonderful dirty martinis and crab cakes, M had his cranberry and soda and roasted chicken that was realllllly good. Saw lots of people we knew and could wish them a Happy New Year, and left at 9. Came home, I crawled under the covers to watch Fox's New Year's coverage, M watched a ballgame downstairs, and came upstairs when it ended, to watch tv with me until the ball dropped in Times Square. We kissed at midnight, wished each other a Happy New Year, and went to sleep. See what y'all have to look forward to when you get to our age!  :lmao:

It went very well.  Had a bit if a scare that the wind would cancel us around 11:15 but it laid down about 10 minutes before midnight and we got the show off.

Was it worth the long 12 hour+ days setting up all this past week for a 5 minute show?  **** YA!

Check out the finale that starts at 4:25 in the clip.  Over 400 shells launched in 45 seconds.
