Normally, I am not one for rhetoric or sanctimonious platitudes. But exceptions must be made for returning sanity to the process.

The GOP-Controlled House is making a start by reading the document that forms the basis of all US Law: the Constitution.

The goal is to underscore the limited-government rules the Founders imposed on Congress - and to try to bring some of those principles back into everyday legislating. For decades, and especially the past two years, we have seen a Congress intent on expanding the power of federal government with the ensuing backlash. This reading will definitely put all members on notice on what to expect over the course of the next two years. In addition, the Senate will also experience the effects of the direction. While it remains in socialist control, the minority GOP senators will most likely start asserting their positions with confidence, knowing that THEIR Tea Party tsunami will occur in 2012 as 23 Democrat seats, compared to only 9 Republican (at least 5 RINO) seats, will be in play.

That's a good start, but I'd like to see the reading of the Constitution follow the Pledge of Allegience to our Flag and a prayer to God for guidence and wisdom.

I'd like cameras catching all the Law Makers ignoring the reading, not present, or disrespecting the whole process. I'm willing to bet it will be the majority.

Meanwhile in the Senate, returning Democrats are pondering how to rein in repeated Republican filibusters. All returning Senate Democrats have signed a letter, first reported by National Journal, asking Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, to consider taking action to change the chamber's operating rules   :thatsright:

Out of 33 Class I seats in play in the 2012 general election, 23 are socialist / democratic / independent controlled, 10 are controlled by republicans, of which 5 are bonafide RINO's. If the dems want to push this crap, they will be putting at least 25 of those 28 seats into play.

Hi,

While I appreciate the symbolism, there is a difference in substance and style.  Let them govern accordingly and kick the ass of those who do not and I will rejoice.

As far as the senate changing the rules on filibuster, the more they continue to try to govern against the will of the people the more they are gone in 2012.  Recall how lost and hopeless it felt in January two years ago when Obama was inaguarated?  They keep this crap up they will learn that feeling to the tenth power in two more years.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas.

regards,

I'd just be happy if they put a reference to the Constitutional basis for every piece of legislation, especially for any taxpayer dollars going directly to any citizen.

I fail to understand why a reference to the Constitution's clause permitting the writing of the bill isn't a part of the bill to begin with.

It seems to me if you're going to be spending money, you have to have a basis under which to do so. But what the hell do I know - I'm just a freakin' taxpayer who is required to play by the rules.... :whatever:
Adams E2 Euphonium, built in 2017
Boosey & Co. Imperial Euphonium, built in 1941
Edwards B454 bass trombone, built 2012
Bach Stradivarius 42OG tenor trombone, built 1992

I think there is some republican that wants congress to do that.  He must be a teabagger, because no RINO or Dem would want it.
