Normally, I am not one for rhetoric or sanctimonious platitudes. But exceptions must be made for returning sanity to the process.
The GOP-Controlled House is making a start by reading the document that forms the basis of all US Law: the Constitution.
The goal is to underscore the limited-government rules the Founders imposed on Congress - and to try to bring some of those principles back into everyday legislating. For decades, and especially the past two years, we have seen a Congress intent on expanding the power of federal government with the ensuing backlash. This reading will definitely put all members on notice on what to expect over the course of the next two years. In addition, the Senate will also experience the effects of the direction. While it remains in socialist control, the minority GOP senators will most likely start asserting their positions with confidence, knowing that THEIR Tea Party tsunami will occur in 2012 as 23 Democrat seats, compared to only 9 Republican (at least 5 RINO) seats, will be in play.
