*Sigh* -- It's gonna be a looooooooong Thanksgiving holiday

And I ain't talking about how many days MG Jr. has off school.

My Beck-obsessed fundie-Catholic aunt is hosting Thanksgiving dinner, as usual. She LOVES to "talk" politics (read: parrot whatever has aired on Faux Nooz TV and radio), which of course makes my blood boil.

Got a "sneak preview" today when she dropped by my mom's--commented that she sold all her General Motors stock (she used to work at GMAC) because "it's not General Motors anymore--it's GOVERNMENT Motors!"

Oh hee yuck hee yuck. How I love right-wing jokes.

Sigh. A VERY long Thanksgiving.

You need to research your story...the old GM stock was rendered worthless,it trades on the pinks as motors liquidation.
What happened this week was a brand new issue.
It was in the news so you had to work it into your little made up story.

The usual follows. :o

God, I would love to be at that Thanksgiving table while she stumps you with fact after fact about the failed policies of the lord zero. It would be a treat. No need for desert. :-)

Geez! I got some liberal moonbat relatives that come over for thanksgiving and I dearly love them. We eat, drink, watch football, talk about the kids and our lives. Politics never seem to come up.

Blood is thicker than politics around here.

I have the same problem. My wife has told me to be on my best behavior because of her liberal sisters
coming over for Thanksgiving. Two years ago, I was a gracious host and let them gloat and preen over the
Obama being elected. Since then, both sisters have lost jobs and have continued their tirades against the Bush caused economy. It doesn't help that their husbands checked their manhood in a long time ago.
I fear this dinner because the better half is a coordinator for a Tea Party network and she has invited several friends and families over. I may just sit back, pop a cool one and watch the fireworks.

Nationwide, this Thanksgiving may be fraught with peril.  I'm not sure what to expect.  Our TG is doubling as a family reunion, about 40 people.  Who knows what could happen with this bunch?  I know 3 of them voted for zero, and regret it, one calls zero the "scourge of the earth."  I know I'm not going to purposely make any waves.  This is a day to give thanks, and that includes for ones family.

Neighbor, at least they admit that they were wrong.  Admitting you have a problem is often the first step towards rectifying it.

We are going to my in-laws, and they always invite my father to join us (since my mom has passed and my dad's family usually is elsewhere for Thanksgiving.) My dad cannot help himself but to start in with politics; I'm often surprised that he is not a registered member of the DUmp. Anyway, the first year he was with us for Thanksgiving he made some sort of anti-Bush comment and was met with silence, as my hubby's family are all Republicans. No yelling, no confrontations, just an awkward silence and then a topic change.

It does happen, but never like the DUmmies say it does. Ever.

An update, 49 people coming. I get to cook. My wife said again " You are not going to say anything about politics are you?" Being the loving husband and father, I said no, I won't mention one thing about politics,
national or state. She told the same thing to her sisters and her sisters said they won't say a word. I do plan to wear my Reagan shirt though :-)

and if any one wants to know a turducken, three turkeys, a ham, two venison roasts, all the sides and beer. I don't need a man cave because I have the garage with satellite TV and the fridge with beer. All the conserves meet out there and the women have they want on their TV.

I share the left overs (if there are any)

So what time should I be there for dinner? :)

It is going to be me and a friend that also has a husband deployed. She just had surgery and has 4 kids so traveling is out for her this week and I have to work the next day. The way I look at it is as long as you are with those you care about then it's all good.

That is the definition of a man cave.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

A great Thanksgiving! I hope each and every one of you had one as well. Officially, 51 people showed up
and a good time was had by all. What a day to catch up on the four F's, food, friendships, families, and football. As I reported earlier I was not looking forward to having the tensions of politics rear it's ugly head during this time of enjoyment. I would love to say that my liberal sister in laws converted to conservatism and have renounced their ways, but you actually for subtle changes, nuances of reflection. Both sister in laws and hubbies showed up bright and cheerful, but very guarded, almost to the point of being uncomfortable. For the first time ever, both sister in laws and their hubbies came to the garage
to sit and talk.

You know the talk. Catching up on how kids are doing, people's health, latest bass boat purchase. When the talk turned to politics, the sister in laws simply stated that they were glad that the election was over
and that we can start looking at rebuilding the economy. A cheap shot from a young nephew about the Democrats getting waxed ( I cleaned up the actual language) was met with a stern look and a few choice
words from his father. What was shocking was the sister in laws agreeing with the nephew and stating
that since Obama was elected, their respective worlds were turned upside down with job losses and a significant drop in income. They didn't blame Bush and were deeply hurt that everything they worked
for their whole lives was slipping away. They and their husbands now appreciate what families mean to them and for all the help that family members had given them over the past year. One sister in law who
I really could have care less for actually told family members that she loved my wife and me because,
and I'll use her words, "You know who your true friends are when they're coming in the back door when
all your "friends" are going out the front door." She said that her family was truly thankful for what we had done, and that she plans to be a little more thoughtful and involved than she was in the past.

It was one of the best Thanksgivings ever for me and my family.
