Waking up early on a Saturday, and brewing some good coffee.  When the weather is nice, drink it on my patio.  When it is ooky, on the sun porch.  And, I put half and half in my coffee that morning.  Normally, I just drink it plain black.

Pulling my truck into the garage and sitting on the tailgate with my wife and dog in a thunder storm.
"Liberalism is an essentially feminine, submissive world view. Perhaps a better adjective than feminine is infantile. It is the world view of men who do not have the moral toughness, the spiritual strength to stand up and do single combat with life, who cannot adjust to the reality that the world is not a huge, pink-and-blue, padded nursery in which the lions lie down with the lambs and everyone lives happily ever after."

I like that.  And would add sitting on my porch during a thunderstorm.  As I don't have a truck, and my garage is filled with old cars.

The company of children.  Whether they are running around screaming, making a mess of their pancakes or pizza, or snuggling on the sofa with a book or a video.

Since my wife and I are nearing 50 without having been so blessed (and adoption being prohibitively expensive), it is our joy to note when our friends and relatives have grown tired of their children, and "give them a break" for a while.  An afternoon.  A weekend.  A week.

If you came to our house you could assume we have two, a boy and a girl.  Not so...but we have made our spare bedrooms such as would be comfortable for them, filled with our own childhood books and toys.

And I dare anyone to call us "wierd".

Okay ... non-sexual pleasure ... hmmmmm .. thinking ... thinking ...

Oh, I know!
Having my husband and kids at home with me during the evening hours.  With this activity and that activity, work and play and blah blah blah ... the evenings with everyone home are rare.  Last night, I got mucho pleasure from all of us sitting in the living room talking and laughing.

Opera especially Verdi and Wagner.

I'm stoked the Met now lets you see operas at movie theaters.  I am looking forward to see Die Walkure and Il Trovatore in the spring.  Wish I would have realized it in time to see Das Reingold last month.

Hope to see Macbeth sometime which is my favorite of the highlights CD's I have.

This is a weird video because, for some reason, Dr. House comes in at the end.

If you're already familiar with all the Black Adder series, then feel free to BS me for this explanation, but Hugh Laurie plays the Duke of Wales, soon to be Mad King George the IV in Black Adder III.  He's also in Black Adder II and IV -- just in case you were curious . . .

June!  By June, it's 90° here. :-)

I finally thought of something to put in this thread.  The first days of spring and fall.  The middle of summer and the middle of winter I can do without.
