Out here in California, in my Congressional District...   Updated at 1:15 AM

We have a blue dog Democrat, Jane Harmon. I voted for her opponent in the primary, Marcy Winograd. Marcy lost.

A couple of days ago, I got my sample ballot, and I was leafing through it. Jane's name showed up, and I kid you not, I shuddered.

I thought to myself, she's the Democrat. I plan to vote a straight Dem ticket, but I loathe her. I decided then and there that I would not cast a vote for her.

I'm going to leave it blank. I just can't do it.

She will win. She always does.

This time, she has to do it without me.

Oh, and BTW, I have never done this before. I think it's time.

3. Just imagine a nice, solid oval on your ballot next to Republican Fein's name.

Because that's exactly what you are doing, regardless of whether you admit it/acknowledge it.

4. As I said. If there were any chance the Republican would win.   Updated at 1:15 AM

I would be voting for Harman. There is no chance of that. I have lived here a long time, and I know what I'm talking about.

So basically you're not doing this on principle? if you were doing it for principle reasons you would do it even if there was a chance the Republican could win.

6. Then what are you trying to do? Lower the total number of votes for Democratic candidates, so the

media can spin a false narrative about a total rejection of liberalism/etc etc etc?

Voting is not for "sending a message," and the message that gets sent is usually the opposite that you intended. If Harmon has a smaller margin this time around, she is likely going to take that as a signal to go right (not left).

50. Don't lecture Califorania Peggy

for having a conscience and being true to her principles. Who are you to tell her how to vote? Is this still a democracy?

And I thank you!

Again, where are the principles?

I've often wondered why they make these posts knowing they'll catch heat for it?  It's got to be their childish desire to attract attention, i.e. if one behaves badly they may not like the attention they get, but at least they'll attract attention.

She's really not getting as much heat as way left regressives who say they refuse to vote and who say they don't support Obama.

What do these people imagine?  That Jane Harmon will wake up on Nov 3 and say to herself, "Oh Noz!  I'm missing California Peggy's vote!!  Must.  Go.  More.  Left."

I think if you're going to with-hold your vote for principle reasons than you should with-hold it even if the opponent could win, that to me would send a greater message than with-holding a vote for someone who's going to win. I just couldn't vote for Bob Dole in 96, and I thought there was a chance he could win, but I just couldn't do it, so I just left it blank.

Don't vote........................don't bitch.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

I dislike George Carlin but he had it right on this one issue, If you vote then you dont have a right to bitch. You are the one that put whatever candidate in office so you don't have a right to bitch about it, so you're to blame   :-)
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

I like to look at it this way, putting Dole up in 96 led to a "somewhat" conservative being elected in 2000, Dole was a RINO like McCain, the only reason I voted for McCain in 08 was Palin.

Billy-Jeff gutted the military and sank moral to almost Carter lows.    You can reason it anyway you want to, but by leaving it blank you voted for the Democrat.

Bob Dole or Bill Clinton.  You chose Clinton.
