Just wondering how this is possible in this day and age.Not trying to start anything, just genuinely curious and would like to get more info on this...1) Are you homeless by choice?2) What is "homeless"? Literally sleeping on the streets or do you have a place to stay?3) Is it an economic reason?4) Do you have a job/career?5) If not, are you looking? Any leads or anything?6) Any marketable skills?7) Any substance abuse?8) Are there any programs in the US to help the homeless get on their feet?9) Is there no welfare in the US?10) If you are on welfare/social assistance is it enough to become not homeless?11) Is there an aspect of mental health involved?I just can't understand how this can happen in the richest country in the world.

Wife is anex-girlfriend of one of my sons. They do get welfare but only 400 a month.Where can you go and get a home with only 400 in cash amonth. The child is from a previous relationship. So they need to get a DNA test in order to get about 170 morea month. The place they need to go for that is over 60 miles away.Husbands license was taken away due to him having seizures. He had some bad ones and has some weakness on his left side. Was in a wheelchair but is now on a cane.In addition to less money until DNA test they also took wifeoff medi-cal, low income medical help.Which means no birth control so she will probably getpregnant again. They have moved from friend to friend. So when they showed uphere their only choice was to sleep in the field.( We live inthe desert.) Which they have had to do several times. Onetime because the place they were staying was not safeanymore. Owner of house beat up another friend staying withhim, so in the middle of the night they left in fear fortheir safety. His parents are meth addicts and her mother is just plaincruel. Her mother actually left them stranded and refused tolet them stay with her. They hitchhiked to my house. The lastplace they were staying had no running water. Five years agothis young mother, she is now 28, lost a 2 year old and a 7month old in a house fire at her moms. The 2 year old nevermade it out of the house and the 7 month old had severe burnsand died 4 months later. The fire dept had no explanation forthe fire. The youngest ones birthday was just the other dayAug 26. She is still devastated by her loss. She has torelive it all at least 4 times a year. Once for each of theirbirthdays and again for each of their deaths. She has had nopermanent place to live so we have kept her babies ashes forher for the last 5 years. They were waiting for low income housing, but the waitinglist was too long.Several months after the kids died they were finally approvedfor low income housing. But by then no kids no house. Another nice thing the welfaredept did was to cut her off when she failed to make anappointment because she was several hundred miles awaystaying with the youngest at the Shriners hosp in Sacramento.Even though they had been informed about the injury to thechild. So they are here but it can only be temporary. My husband and I are on a fixed income and have only a 400sq. ft cabin. They have tried everything to get a home but with so littlemoney their chances are pretty slim.Hope this all makes sense, I had to say something when I sawthis post. They believe in a God.I do not. Where are all the faithful at a time like this...
